Millbury Guest House is a very spacious and comfortable property, with a beautiful garden and a swimming pool that, on warm days, is perfect for spending relaxing hours swimming and enjoying the sunshine. The owners are the true highlight. Hennie, the husband, is an excellent guide who knows Port Elizabeth and the surrounding area in depth. He provides invaluable advice on where to go and when — essential in a city that can be challenging and, at times, unsafe for visitors unfamiliar with it. He is also a great translator and, if you are interested, can show you many highlights of South Africa, always enriching the experience with historical and cultural insights. We had many engaging conversations with him about the country’s history before and after the colonial period, and he kindly lent us a fascinating book on Africa’s past colnial history. Hayley, his wife, is a wonderful host — always present, approachable, and attentive. When we requested breakfast as early as 7:00 a.m. to make it on time to Addo Park, she gladly arranged it without any issue. A stay here combines comfort, warm hospitality, and a rare opportunity to deepen your understanding of South Africa. Highly recommended.
