A huge apartment, extremly clean (and I mean it), with everything working perfectly. Close to the airport too. Very quiet rooms, Lidl nearby, buses to any destination (Valletta, Gozo, etc) nearby too. We were very happy with our stay here! The apartment is so big that you can do sport simply by going from the sleeping rooms to the kitchen :) We already regret leaving it!

We chose this apartment for one night as we arrived in Malta very late, it was so easily accessible (we literally walked from the airport for 18 minutes) and so comfortable! The place was pristine and so comfortable, easy to find and to check in/out even without the host. It was also very quiet, close to the airport as it is! Perfect start to our holiday!

Il-Furjana on Vallettan esikaupunki, mutta kohtuullisen kävelymatkan päässä keskustasta. Alue on rauhallinen. Ravintoloita on vähän, mutta Vallettassa sitäkin enemmän. Helppo liikkua jalan: liikennettä on kohtuullisesti.

Lähellä kansallista urheilupaikkaa. Skeittipuiston pysäkeiltä busseja moneen suuntaan. Malta ei kuitenkaan ole liikkumisen kannalta helppo kohde. Saarella ei ole raideliikennettä. Vasemmanpuoleinen liikenne hämää, netti josta katsoa karttaa ei välttämättä toimi joka paikassa. Kadut ei ole ruutuasemakaavassa vaan sikinsokin. On myös korkeuseroja. Kannattaa ottaa kuvakaappaukset kartoista ym. Kivoin lomapaikka on ehkä saaren pohjoisosassa, Bugibbassa, ei täällä.

Kävimme 3 viikossa 12 paikkakunnalla paikallisbusseilla ja näimme koko saaren. Bussiliput olivat halpoja bussit siistejä. Valletta on vaikuttava ja koko saari mielenkiintoinen. Malta ei sovi liikuntarajoitteisille.

Omatoimisuus ja joustavuus liikkumisen suhteen antaa parhaan mahdollisuuden tutustua kaupunkiin. Kaupunki on kaunis vanha historiallinen paikka kapeine kujineen. Mahdollisuus seurata ja nähdä maltalaista aitoa arkea ja juhlaa. Paikalliset herkut löytyvät leipomoista. Julkisella liikenteellä busseilla ja takseilla pääsee hyvin myös muihin paikkoihin. En suosittele liikuntarajoitteiselle sillä jalkakäytävät ovat kapeita ja liikenteen vilkkaus vaatii erityistä tarkkaavaisuutta. Yö elämä todella rauhallista. Läheisistä kaupungeista löytyy hyvät ravintolat ja rannat. Lapsiperheille vaativa paikka. Jättäisin väliin ajatuksen auton vuokrauksesta silläedullinen viikon bussikortti ja taksikyydit riittää hyvin.

Paikassa pystyi helposti tutustumaan saaren eri kohteisiin toimivan bussiliikenteen ansiosta. Lipunmyyntipisteessä ei kiireen ja jonojen takia pystynyt helposti selvittämään, minkälainen ja monenko päivän turistilippu kannattaa hankkia. Saarea busseilla kiertäessä sai aika hyvän kuvan paikan historiasta, jos oli etukäteen tutustunut historian pääpiirteisiin. Paikallinen väestö on pääosin ystävällistä, vaikka saarella liikkuvasta ihmismassasta vain 1/10 -osa on saarella asuvaa väestöä. Tällainen suhde 10 % väestöä ja 90 % turisteja selvisi jostain EU:n selvityksestä. Kun sitä miettii käytännössä, se tuntuu uskomattomalta, kun ajattelee, että niin pieni joukko paikallisia palvelee näin valtavaa turistimäärää. Voi vain todeta, että maltalaiset ovat tehokkaita.

Vallettan kaupungissa kadut ovat kapeita ja mäkisiä. Osa kaduista on rappusia, joten liikuntarajoitteisille osa kaduista on haasteellisia, joka kannattaa ottaa huomioon kaupunkia valittaessa. Osalle kaupungin nähtävyyksistä on ilmainen sisäänpääsy. Kaupungissa on rento ja miellyttävä ilmapiiri. Kadut ovat erilaisia ruokapaikkoja pullollaan, jokaisen makuun löytyy helposti ja kävellessä katuja on helppo istahtaa hengähtämään toviksi, eikä tarvitse miettiä ravintoloiden tai kauppojen sisäänheittäjiä ollenkaan.
