Madrid City Center, Madrid

Conveniently located in central Madrid, in Lavapiés district, The Central House Lavapiés has a restaurant, a bar, a shared lounge and an open-air patio. Boasting private and dormitory rooms, this property also provides guests with a rooftop terrace.

Popular points of interest near the hostel include Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and Reina Sofia Museum. The nearest airport is Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas, 14 km from The Central House Lavapiés. The location of the hostel is perfect, lots of places to see, to eat, to drink just around the corner and down the road. There's 24h supermarket in 5 minutes walk. Rooms, facilities, beds were clean, as cleaning came every morning. In the room you'll have lots of places to store you stuff. The beds has curtains so you'll feel better privacy. Good wife, suitable for work on remote, but there's not a lot of places to do it, except the terrace on the roof, but it starts to work as a bar after 5 PM (but I could still sit there, no prob).

At Sungate Hostel you will find a 24-hour front desk where staff organises a range of activities and sells tickets to local attractions. Other public areas include a shared kitchen and a shared TV lounge. Services like lockers, luggage storage and laundry can be requested onsite. Great staff and hostel activities. I made nice friends during the tour and the sunset picnic. The kitchen was very helpful and the only girls dorm was really nice and big. The bathrooms were super clean and big, so you could take a shower and get dressed very comfortably. I also forget the checkout time and they were very nice to remember me and give me time to pack my things. Diego did my check in and it was super informative, I had a great explanation about the city that made everything better.

Hostels – what are they?

Hostels offer so much more than a cheap place to stay – they're also a fun way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens and game rooms give you the chance to swap tips, tricks, and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long way since the first youth hostel opened back in 1912. Nowadays there's something for everyone, from budget "crash pads" to 5-star "poshtels." Whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll see that most hostels are cheaper than local hotels – and a lot more fun, too!
