Corner Hostel

Just 200 metres from Sliema Beach, the Corner Hostel is a renovated Maltese townhouse offering a communal kitchen, and rooms and dormitories with a telephone and ceiling fan. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel. The location of the hostel is perfect for exploring the island and is very close to the beach for a relaxing time after a long day of exploration. The hosts were extremely nice, and we're available for advice whenever needed. We booked a room with a private bathroom which was very clean and 2 terraces just for ourselves. It felt more like a hotel then a hostel. Overall, great experience in this hostel and would definitely recommend for any traveller.

Hostel 94

Set on the island of Malta, Hostel 94 is located in Sliema. Guests can leave their belongings into the lockers and relax in the shared lounge area.

Shops and restaurants can be found in the area surrounding Hostel 94. Malta International Airport is a 15-minute drive away. Hostel 94 is not just a hostel, it is an experience. You will find here people from various cultures and diversities; and the hostel makes an honest effort to welcome one and all. It all started with a call to the manager - Steve, who was informed beforehand that I would be arriving late. As a result, he made all the necessary arrangements, and when I finally checked in (12am), there was a receptionist - Aeta, waiting for me. The bed sheet, the pillow cover and the towels were already prepared beforehand and were quickly handed over to me by Aeta. In short, the check-in was a smooth one in spite of my late arrival. The breakfast was just fine for me - at 11€ per person per night, they are serving us coffee, milk, bread, jam, cornflakes and cake; which, according to me is more than enough. And even when the supplies ran out, another receptionist - Andrew, was swift enough to replace them without much of a hassle to the guests. Another person worth mentioning here is Marina, who is also working there like Andrew and Aeta. She was very kind to guide me through all the places to visit in Malta. Her recommendations for the ice-cream parlour near to the hostel and for pastizzi shop on the way to Valletta were right on the mark. When I was desperately in need of a mobile charger, she extended her help in finding me one at the hostel. To summarize, my stay at Hostel 94 was more than exceptional! I just did not meet many people, we ended up befriending each other! Marina, Aeta, Max and Andrew were kind enough to let me cook in their kitchen and we enjoyed yummy Indian cuisine during one of the nights. Thank You Hostel 94 for this experience! Marina, Aeta, Max, Andrew, Brajan, Diana, Damien, Juan, Armando - you guys are the best! Thank You! :)

Hostels – what are they?

Hostels offer so much more than a cheap place to stay – they're also a fun way to travel and meet like-minded people. Common areas like shared kitchens and game rooms give you the chance to swap tips, tricks, and travel stories with backpackers from all over the world.

Hostels have come a long way since the first youth hostel opened back in 1912. Nowadays there's something for everyone, from budget "crash pads" to 5-star "poshtels." Whether you'd prefer a bed in a shared dorm or your own private room, you'll see that most hostels are cheaper than local hotels – and a lot more fun, too!
