Basecamp Wales offers family-run hostel accommodation in Llanllyfni, on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park and 30.3 km from Pen-Y-Pass and 8.2 km to the beach at Dinas Dinlle. The hotels do not normally get so many excellent scores without a reason. So, that's exactly the case when there are reasons. That's a perfect value for money. Very clean, quite spacious rooms. Nice location. Good wifi. Large parking area. Wonderful shared kitchen and big lounge area.

Boasting a shared lounge, Base Camp Snowdonia, Gwersyll Cyntaf Eryri is situated in Betws-y-coed in the Clwyd region, 19 km from Snowdon and 25 km from Snowdon Mountain Railway. This is a very nice hostel. Very cosy and very comfy 24/7 facilities. It is possible to self check in at any hour, and there is basic food to purchase in the kitchen too at any hour - quite handy (tea, coffee, beer, oatmeal, instant noodle etc). The common area is very neat and nice - i spent quite a lot of time there, chilling after a hike, cooking and eating food and even working on my laptop. I stayed in a female only dorm, that has 6 comfy beds, and there were 2 toilets and 2 showers just for our room, so i never had to wait to have a shower etc. There are hair dryers available, and a whole separate drying room both for laundry and wet clothes after a hike. Beds were perfect, pillows were perfect, not creaky as in some dorms. With very good quality bedsheets and towels. Overall, if i am in betws y coed again, i will certainly stay in Gwersyll Cyntaf Eryri.

Nick at the desk is great - awesome personality. Michael gave me some suggestions on where to visit next. Bunks are very comfy & cozy & there is plenty of room to sit up!, which is rare. Privacy curtains are great. Two pillows - I love that. There is a cafe so close - see photo (circled. Location is great - right across from a nature walk. A very very nice stay & I even extended another night. Book direct. A quick bus ride to Betws-y-Coed for more natural parks. I would definitely stay here again.

Exceptional staff, great breakfast served in the morning and just a really nice place to stay if you want to see the nature of Wales. Really recommend it

Set 40 km from Chester Racecourse, Llangollen Hostel - Book the Room - Self Catering facilities offers 4-star accommodation in Llangollen and has a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. Best place i ever stayed. Very friendly. Clean and comfortable, Special Thanks to Jamie who was very helpfull. We felt like home. Hostel is located in very good location. Definatly we go back again. Highly recommeded.

Llety Glyndwr - Bunkhouse features free WiFi and views of mountain in Trawsfynydd. The property is around 18 km from Portmeirion, 40 km from Snowdon and 46 km from Snowdon Mountain Railway. Everything was well organized, and we really enjoyed our stay during the Christmas holidays. Would definitely recommend!

Set in Merthyr Tydfil and with Cardiff University reachable within 43 km, The Butchers Arms - Grill Pub and Accommodation offers express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a terrace, free WiFi... We arrived at 10 pm on a Friday night, greeted by an amazing Manageress who was so helpful considering they had a busy pub with a 50th celebration going on. We stayed here initially for the proximity to the car park to do Pen Y fan horseshoe, we couldn't have picked better. After a few drinks we met the landlord, Andrew, a fantastic, interesting, local knowledged man. Being a former mountain rescue man he advised us on many things regarding our climb, early start to see the sunrise, which direction to do the horseshoe, amongst other useful tips .He arranged water and snacks for our follow day even though its was by this time midnight. Following evening meal was so reasonably priced for the quality and size of the meal. Drinks were very well priced. All staff were amazing. Room was spotlessly clean, Views were unreal. Overlooking the mountain having Sunday morning full breakfast in the warm sun was an absolute winner. Highly recommend this place. Well Done Andrew and team
