He is available on Whatsapp and is very responsive. He picked me up from the bus station and also drove me there when I was leaving Bukit Lawang. He gave lots of good, accurate and useful information regarding transportation and prices and restaurant recommendations. The room was clean. It wasn't pristine and perfect but it was nice and I was very comfortable. Remember, this is in the jungle basically, so there will be some insects from time to time and even a few geckos, but they are really cute! They have mosquito nets, so you feel safe from the creepy crawlies. But there weren't many of them anyway. And finally, do the tour with them! The prices are not extraordinarily cheap, but they are in line with everywhere else. I asked around, and they were all the same price, so honestly, I would be careful if you found a tour that is "too cheap." The guide, Putra, spoke English well, and he helped us find 4 organgutans and other animals in the off-season. The food was plentiful and delicious (thank you, Bruno, the cook).

You go to this place as a stranger but even after a couple days you become like family. I wish I could have stayed longer. 30 min drive to Saroke but no problem because it was easy to rent scooters from salty dog. Best place ever!!

Medan Dazhong Backpacker's Hostel terletak di Medan, 1,7 km dari Pajak Ikan Medan. Very friendly staff and owner. Also very helpfull when you need or want something. The best thing we could do was book the jungle trek tour. Our guide Edi Caterpilar was doing great teaching us all the stuff he knows about the jungle. We saw many oeran-oetangs and other monkeys. Also other animals like a weird river-turtle. Rafting in the end is also worth doing, very nice ending of the trip!

The place has nice common space so it's easy to socialise with other travellers and go out with them for food, sightseeing etc.

First very disapointed because the booked superior room was very dirty and had a very bad smell inside. Bought an upgrade to VIP room, it was much better and my stay was fine. Bed was big and comfy, facilities to make tea/coffee in room. A/C worked fine. Alfa Mart near to hotel.
