Beautiful location - for me it was worth it even though it is about a 30 minute walk to the main tourist street. Honestly it is nice being away from the tourist trap main drag even though I was only there for a few days. The road that leads to the hostel has lots of shops, some restaurants and bars, the sister hostel’s travel cafe, and Rachna Bookstore for great books and food. So if you are around for a while its great. The property is set in dense greenery, and does indeed have lots of birdlife. Great common spaces, great balconies, great food for the set dinners (I didn’t have the breakfast or lunch), and the staff is super knowledgeable, especially Saran. They have a deeper and somewhat offbeat lost of things to do in Gangtok, and will organize hikes for groups from the hostel. The standout for me here was the design - an amazing space compared to any other hostel I’ve been to in India. And very clean :)

Mellow Fellow Hostel tem um salão partilhado, terraço, um restaurante e bar em Gangtok. I had such a lovely time at Mellow Fellow, I stayed for over a week. The staff, especially Sandi and Annie, are great people who really made the stay special. They are fun, friendly, and have a wealth of knowledge about Sikkim. The facilities are also very comfortable, with clean rooms and a vibey common area. Of course, the location is also perfect for exploring MG Marg with dozens of restaurants nearby. Mellow fellow should be your only choice when visiting Gangtok.

In quieter location compared around MG marg and still walking distance to there. Cafe downstairs is also nice atmosphere.

Our stay was really good, we loved the view, the friendly owner & staff, as well as the other guests we befriended. The room was spacious and comfy, the hotel is easy to find and only 10 min by car from Rumtek Monastery. The food was also excellent. Overall very good value for money
