The host - not gonna write down his name here - is very kind. He gave me a lift to one of the trailheads and even pick me up after my hike. Gave me plenty of recommendations about Kutchan and its surroundings. Customer service is 10/10. The hostel is very close to the station - around 9-10 min walk - and has a pretty view of Mt.Yotei. The kitchen is quite well equipped, the shower and the toilets are clean and neat. In the common areas you find a lots of books about what to visit, and culture and tourism in Japan. The rooms are big enough with some private space also. I was alone in my room, so it was very calm, but I visited Kutchan in off season. Very recommended even for bigger groups, because the common areas are big enough.
