Located within 2.1 km of Northam Beach and 600 metres of Wonderfood Museum, Homs Female Hostel provides rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in George Town. The beds were soooo comfortable, and they were real beds not bunk beds, the roof was very high, and the sleeping room was clean, for the showers the water was hot,and they were cleaned regularily, and the socialising room looked like a phenomenal pinterest room for me, it has a variety of beautiful collected stuff, woody furniture everywhere, and beautiful peranakan tiles and design, booklets about penang and a collection of books, and a piano, a working one. I enjoyed staying in the socialising room, to the point that I started thinking that I should buy a house similar to that and settle there, The owner was so kind and helpful, and he came regularly to clean the house, and the location of the hostel was perfect close to anything you may ever need. I just loved this house, it felt like a real warm home, not a mere hostel, and I met lots of sweet girls there, what a wonderful experience! I wish there were more only females hostels like this one in every city.

This was my first time staying in a hostel, and honestly, Some Place Else exceeded every expectation—it was even better than staying at a hotel. The entire space is modern, clean, and clearly designed with love and attention to detail. As a solo traveler, I often feel a bit lonely on the road, but that wasn’t the case here. The hostel offers social activities every night, making it super easy to meet people. I made friends by my second night! It’s truly a great place to connect with other travelers from all over the world. The beds were comfortable and spotless, with great lighting and excellent air quality. Bathrooms and showers are ALWAYS clean, with hot and cold water available around the clock. Despite the social atmosphere, the vibe was calm and relaxing when you needed downtime. I especially loved the co-working space, kitchen and rooftop—perfect spots to unwind alone or hang out with new friends. The location is also ideal, right in the heart of Georgetown. I’m already planning to come back just to stay here again. Can’t recommend it enough—Some Place Else is a gem!

Nice and clean bathroom facilities and the rooms were clean as well. The hosts were really helpful and tried to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Amazing facilities—especially the free washer/dryer with room to hang and steam your clothes! Staff was quite friendly and nice too and gave great recommendations.

Featuring a garden, terrace and views of city, Bitterswiit Ladies Hostel is set in George Town, 2 km from Northam Beach. Good wifi; great location (perfect i would say); only one shower with hot water and 2 showers with cold water (the water ls not really cold, but a bit warm); only 2 toilets (one comes with the hot shower); free water; there is a fridge; the door at the entrance is always locked; big relaxing area; balcony where you can smoke upstairs; good AC; laundery (15 RM)- drying included if you want; some of the stuff is really nice; very clean place.

Aayu Chulia is a gem of a hostel! it’s a home away from home! Every room is private, spacious & very clean, in a 100-yr old beautiful & historical building. Original wooden floors & stairs!!! As expected, walls are thin, but, having your own very clean & spacious room is a special treat & for a steal of a price!!! The minimal dining facility facility in a very spacious & clean lounge area is quite welcomed for making toast hot/cold beverage, & refrigerator to stash leftovers, & keep beverages/fruits cold. Best part, there’s always fresh loaf of bread everyday for a small snack! Lots of combo shower/toilet in each floor, but, in the ground floor, each room is equipped with its own combo shower/toilet. The entire building is always kept immaculate! The location is prime, smack dab in the thick of things! Restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, night market, bars are all with a minute - 5-min walk!!! Tourist sights are within a few minutes walk. Penang Hill is a 20-min Grab taxi, so is the beach. But the best part, Shane, the husband/wife duo owners, is an amazing hands on staff!!! He’s 100% very responsive & accommodating on anything you may have query on - recommendations on food, what to do, where to go, etc. or need help with - carrying your luggage up/down the stairs, because he genuinely cares! His staff are wonderful as well - so helpful, especially with my luggages!!! I am so thankful & grateful for Shane & his staff for a beautiful, very clean, very spacious private rooms hostel & top notch service in a very prime location!!! I will definitely come back & highly recommend it!!!

Set within 2.2 km of Northam Beach and 700 metres of Wonderfood Museum, Aayu Seckchuan - 3 mins walk to Love Lane offers rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in George Town. I really enjoyed my stay at Aayu sekchuan. The building has a lovely heritage charm but feels modern and well-kept inside. My room was spacious, clean, and quiet—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The location is super convenient, with lots of food, cafes, and sights within walking distance. The staff were also really friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again next time I’m in Penang!
