La Urraca Loca Hostel has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Balgue. Featuring barbecue facilities, the property is located within 12 km of Maderas Volcano. What a gem of a place! We had the private double room over the kitchen and it had everything we could have needed. It was quiet, clean, and one of the best places we’ve stayed on our CA trip so far. The host was lovely and friendly, laundry was done super quickly. One minor comment was that we would have loved it if the kitchen had a toaster and kettle.

Cocos Hostel has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Moyogalpa. There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. Staff was so kind, room was clean and comfortable with a fan for each bed, location was perfect for getting on the ferry the next day and they are able to help set up rides/excursions. Excellent value for the price, would definitely stay again!

El Zopilote Permaculture Farm/hostel is a backpackers hostel and a permaculture farm at the same time. We offer various types of hospitality like private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and... Such a special place! The permaculture and mushroom tours taught me so much. It’s more than a hostel—it’s a whole experience. Great food, peaceful yoga, and beautiful jungle all around.

Hostal Casa Moreno has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Moyogalpa. This 3-star hostel offers a bar. This stay was great for the price that we paid for two air conditioned rooms. The rooms were very accommodating for our travel group of 5 ppl in one family room and 1 person in the other private room.Great restaurants in walking distance. Staff at the hostel is very friendly and helpful. Eventhough, we paid for air conditioning in the rooms- there was also two great fans to circulate the cold air 😇 there is also parking at the hostel for personal vehicle or motorcycles Upon seeing other hostels in the area this one looked far superior and unique .

Exactly what I was looking for. Staff were all lovely, food amazing. And the Raindance Treehouse was incredible! Thanks so much

Situated in Las Pilas, 17 km from Maderas Volcano, Rainbow Caravan Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

Located in Moyogalpa, Sophie House offers 3-star accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. The hostel also provides free WiFi and free private parking. It’s a bit aside from the port city Moyogalpa, so it’s very calm and almost no cars and people here, but still easy to reach by foot from the Centre (15 min walk). It has breakfast included and it’s home cooked food by the family. My room was very spacious, with 1 double and 1 single bed. They had outlets outside and inside, so i could work online here. Ask for both WiFi passwords! The host family was very nice and always tried to help, like when I needed a dentist they found a number. They don’t speak English (as most locals here) but with my broken Spanish and google translate we always understood each other. You can also ask them about the laundry option. Thanks for hosting me!

Set in Altagracia, 16 km from Maderas Volcano, B&B, family run homestay, Hospedaje La Penita offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Learned this was one of the original hostels on Ometepe. Breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared with local ingredients. Their dogs and cats were very nice to spend time with. The hosts can lease scooters and deliver them for competitive prices. Communication with host prior to and during stay was excellent.
