This is a beautiful oasis on the North part of the island of Ometepe. The property is a large piece of land with lots of pretty plants and trees, 2 friendly dogs, and some chickens. All throughout is thoughtfully crafted walkways and living spaces which are very well-kept. The dorm room felt super clean and the beds were comfortable. It is actually incredible how clean it is kept considering it is basically in the middle of nature. The ranch has plenty of hammocks and space to relax! The best part of this place is the couple that owns it, Daniella and Tony. They have a way of making everyone feel at home and bonding the guests staying there. It felt like we had our own little family for the week we stayed. They always made sure we had everything we needed from food and water to suggestions of what to do on the island. Daniella is an amazing cook and we enjoyed many delicious breakfasts of omelettes, fruits, homemade marmalade, etc. And Tony’s banana smoothies made me so happy! Everyone we met there ended up extending their stay, including us. I have never felt so comfortable anywhere I’ve stayed while traveling. This is a really special place where you can feel a little closer to home while being so far away.

This piece of paradise has everything you need. Yoga shala, chilling terrasse to relax, a well organized and clean kitchen, delicious meals and outstanding garden. Patricia had plenty of tips and places to recommand to enhance our experience. The location is central to everything we needed, Small fruits/veggies stands and many restaurants.

Cocos Hostel has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Moyogalpa. There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. The host! She is amazing!! She helped us with everything, we got sick and she literally took care of us. The location is great and the rooms are big enough with private bathroom, the breakfast was amazing as well.

El Zopilote Permaculture Farm/hostel is a backpackers hostel and a permaculture farm at the same time. We offer various types of hospitality like private rooms, dormitories, camping areas and... The most wonderful and magical place to stay on the island if you are a nature lover. The place is great, in the middle of the jungle, the staff are wonderful, food is so tasty. They organise daily activities such as yoga, cacao ceremonies, permaculture tour etc. It’s a eco sustainable place, japanease showers, and know that you are surrounded by nature, so it is what it is, if you look for a fancy place it’s not here, but if you look for authenticity, to learn from Chris the owner who is super knowledgeable and grow everything here, it’s the place. Great vibe! Beds are confortable and clean- they have muskito nets you have to use :-) I highly recommend, and I am definitely coming

Hostal Casa Moreno has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Moyogalpa. This 3-star hostel offers a bar. What a cheerful, friendly and well-run hostal! Moyogalpa is such a sweet town and this hostal is fabulous! Colourful and welcoming.

Set in Santa Cruz, Raindance offers beachfront accommodation 1.7 km from Santo Domingo Beach and offers various facilities, such as an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a bar. The friendly staff, the bar atmosphere and the good food. I also love the pod beds with privacy curtains and they actually provide a USBC cable in the beds which was helpful because I left my charger in the last hostel I stay in!

Situated in Las Pilas, 17 km from Maderas Volcano, Rainbow Caravan Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The place was very clean and tidy, tranquil, and no noise at night which is rare in Nicaragua because there's always someone making some noise. The food was quality, homemade vegan goodness. Making a fire was cool and it has all the modern amenities like a fridge and cooking equipment so you can bring beer. Didn't have any bugs unlike some of the other hostels i stayed in on Ometepe. It's quite a good location equidistance between the two towns and near the start of Volcan Concepción. I recommend renting an ATV rather than a scooter at the port and picking it up in Ometepe, don't trust the people on the San Jorge side. The hostel also offers scooter rental although I picked mine up at port. Very photogenic hostel and peaceful.

Located in Moyogalpa, Sophie House offers 3-star accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. The hostel also provides free WiFi and free private parking. It’s a bit aside from the port city Moyogalpa, so it’s very calm and almost no cars and people here, but still easy to reach by foot from the Centre (15 min walk). It has breakfast included and it’s home cooked food by the family. My room was very spacious, with 1 double and 1 single bed. They had outlets outside and inside, so i could work online here. Ask for both WiFi passwords! The host family was very nice and always tried to help, like when I needed a dentist they found a number. They don’t speak English (as most locals here) but with my broken Spanish and google translate we always understood each other. You can also ask them about the laundry option. Thanks for hosting me!

Set in Altagracia, 16 km from Maderas Volcano, B&B, family run homestay, Hospedaje La Penita offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. Learned this was one of the original hostels on Ometepe. Breakfasts and dinners were freshly prepared with local ingredients. Their dogs and cats were very nice to spend time with. The hosts can lease scooters and deliver them for competitive prices. Communication with host prior to and during stay was excellent.
