Loving Strangers Hostel features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and bar in Madalena. The accommodation provides karaoke and a shared kitchen. So much more than a hostel: a real family homestay experience, with a hug! Stefano and Pedro are wonderful hosts, I feel sheepish about not spending enough time in the garden relaxing and conversing - was too busy running around the island! The hostel is on a quiet street in the centre of Madalena, with stunning views over the Pico mountain. Rooms are spacious, each bed is curtained off for privacy, equipped with a power socket, a lamp and a fan, nice firm mattress. All communal areas are clean, and the garden is just awesome! You get a choice of cats to cuddle, and a dog :) The shared kitchen has everything you need for cooking or storing food items. Also, if you have an early start - like, climbing the mountain,- you can have tea, cereal, yoghurt and jam on toast - before the official breakfast time, just tidy up after yourself - but you'll miss the pancakes..... Definitely a hostel-home experience that I recommend and that is firmly on my re-visit bucket list!

Situated in Madalena, Jardim das Camélias has a garden, shared lounge, terrace, and free WiFi throughout the property. Rooms are equipped with a balcony with a garden view. Cool old house with a lovely garden, outdoor seating, living room / lounge and kitchen. Sparkling clean, excellent location near the port and its taxi stand, restaurants. Not too far from one of the wine walks. Taxi from airport is 15 euros. Excellent communication from the management (all remote). Highly recommend!

Engenho Hostel is located on the beachfront in Lajes do Pico. The hostel features family rooms. Amazing shared kitchen, unbelievable location, super clean place and awesome host !!! Was there for any questions and offered his assistance at every chance.

It is in the centre of town that you can walk everywhere. The natural pools and the ferry are a very quick walk. You have a view of Faial and you can see the sunset every evening. This is an amazing place on pico Island. An old convent with several rooms. I like the area very much. Very friendly and helpful staff. I was lucky there was a local fado cincert in the convent while my stay. I was allowed to parc my bicycle insidethe convent The breakfast is simple and good 👍

This Azorean guest house is a 15-minute walk from the sea and features comfortable accommodation overlooking Faial and the Pico Mountain, the highest point in Portugal. Excellent breakfast, many options. Also loved the location and that there was a pool which my grandson used almost everyday. The apartment was clean and towels were changed everyday. Any issues were quickly dealt with.
