Set in the heart of Donghai shopping area in Taichung, 1.5 km away from Luce Chapel, 框框背包客棧 Kuang Kuang Hostel boasts fittings and decorations in a student dormitory style. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in in Taiwan or anywhere else. Rooms and facilities were very clean and comfortable, building had character and charm. Location was convenient as we had to attend an event at the university nearby, and the staff were extremely helpful. Double room was also very affordable for the quality.

Stray Birds Taichung Hostel is set in Taichung. Popular points of interest nearby include Kuangsan SOGO Dept. Store and National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts. I stayed in the hostel for 3 nights and really liked the general vibes. Everything was clean and modern, spacious bed, AC in the room, clean and "comfortable" showers, great common area with eating space + chilling area + meditation area. Also huge plus for the cute smiling cute and the kind staff! Also good location, in the middle of the main attractions points and just next to bus stops (also lots of shops around, with a 7/11 in front).
