The Olde Foundry Building located on the waterfront, is a provincially designated Heritage property constructed in 1844 to create and provide services to the local ship building industry. The apartment, located at the rear, was formerly the blacksmith's shop. The original pulley, shafts and beams remain in the apartment. The beautiful 25 foot ceilings give the apt an air of spaciousness. Exposed brick walls greet visitors upon entry. The rooms are large and include a full kitchen dining room, living room, bedroom and bathroom. This part of the building used to be the tasting room for a brewery and has been built up to resemble a European village square. It is charming and quaint and utterly unique.

Since retiring to Pictou and we have renovated a couple of historic buildings. It is important to us to modernize while maintaining the building's historical integrity. We are located in the east end of Pictou near the old shipyards, on the waterfront. The apartment, while quiet and private, is within 300 meters from downtown and all amenities, including the historic Ship Hector, restaurants and Northumberland Fishery Museum, local art shops, hairdressers, Jitney walking path and more. The lovely little town of Pictou, known as the birthplace of New Scotland, located on the shores of the harbour, is steeped with history. Pictou County boasts the warmest and most beautiful beaches in Nova Scotia. There are 3 beaches in the area. Both provincial parks at Caribou-Munroe Island and Waterside are minutes away, while the famed Melmerby Beach is a 15 minute drive. In the Summer 2023, Pictou will be hosting live music on the waterfront in celebration of 250th year anniversary of the arrival of the Ship Hector. The music tent is a 5-minute walk.
