周边信息
The apartment is located in Locarno’s charming old town, rich in history, culture, and architecture.
We are right next to Piazza Grande, the city’s vibrant heart, known for its arcades and the Locarno Film Festival. From there, we head to Castello Visconteo, dating back to 998. Once much larger, it housed the Civic and Archaeological Museum and played a key role in the 1925 Locarno Peace Conference. Nearby is Il Rivellino, a bastion linked to Leonardo da Vinci, and Casa Casorella, known for its stucco decorations.
The Old Town is a maze of narrow streets, courtyards, and historic buildings. Due to elevation differences, the easiest way up is via the elevator and walkway near the roundabout. Piazzetta delle Corporazioni and the charming Cittadella and S. Antonio streets are must-sees. The Casa Rusca Art Gallery, housed in an 18th-century residence, features a permanent Jean Arp collection.
A key stop is Piazza and Church of S. Antonio, built in 1664 and later redesigned after a collapse in 1863. Don’t miss the Altar of the Dead Christ inside. We then pass Casa del Negromante, a noble residence, and Palazzo Morettini, now home to the Cantonal Library.
Returning to Piazza Grande, we admire the Casa dei Canonici, with its private portico, before ending at Chiesa Nuova, a Baroque church with intricate stuccoes, frescoes, and a striking façade.
