Je voelt je direct thuis en deel van de familie. Zeer gastvrije mensen die altijd op ieder moment van de dag klaar voor je staan. De accommodatie was perfect en midden in de natuur. Het eten was voortreffelijk! Ook de HRO tour was een must see, je ziet de omgeving vanaf de bergtop tot aan de lagoon en mangrove. Het bezoek aan privé strand waar je eindigt met een verse coconut was een hele ervaring. Ook hebben ze ons goede tips gegeven om de omgeving nog beter te kunnen zien.

Our family farm has dedicated to grazing livestock since the year 1981, when our grandfather Paco went into the jungle in the search of land to provide a better future for his family. After 30 years of conventional production and now under the management of a new generation, the Hacienda has directed its focus and values towards the conservation of its biodiversity by adapting sustainable production practices and incorporating tourism as a primary activity. We offer an affordable, rustic and comfortable accommodation for you to immerse yourself into the wildlife of the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park. Our small rural lodge is ideal for travelers who are searching for a relaxing, remote spot where one can enjoy nature and the personal interaction with a Costa Rican family. Enjoy a horseback riding tour through the Hacienda’s hidden treasures and finish with a kayaking afternoon through the Pejeperro Lagoon, home to more than 40 species of aquatic birds.
Mónica and Cira, the mother-daughter duo who will host you during your stay at Hacienda Rio Oro! Cira is the owner and administrator of the Hacienda, as well as a devoted public servant to the community. She is very involved in the sustainable development of the area and its inhabitants. She will be able to answer all your questions about the Hacienda and its surroundings. Her English is basic but will always find a way to communicate! Mónica is Cira’s youngest daughter who has recently returned to Costa Rica to work at the family’s business. She will be your main host and communicator, as well as translator between guests and team members. She speaks fluent English as well as intermediate Portuguese.
Hacienda Rio Oro is set on the national route 245, 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) before Carate Beach. Our next door neighbors are approximately 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) away, both ways. You will be surrounded by pastures and natural landscapes. On the highest area of the Hacienda, there is primary forest where you can hike or go by horse to enjoy a panoramic view of the coast. On the lowest area, you will find the Pejeperro Mangroove and Lagoon, home to more than 40 species of aquatic birds. Kayak in the mangroove and cross over to Pejeperro Beach for a breathtaking sunset and the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Soda Bijagual: 1.5 km (0.9 miles) Piro River: 5.1 km (3.1 miles) Oro River: 4.6 km (2.8 miles) Carate Beach: 11.5 km (7.1 miles) Cape Mataplo: 14.7 km (9.1 miles)
