A splash of colour and history in the heart of Catalonia
The colourful and charming gem that is Girona is set on the banks of where the rivers Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell meet. Girona is protected by fortifications and features a remarkable medieval centre along with several fine Romanesque and Gothic buildings.
The province houses the ancient Arab Baths, the Girona Cathedral, and the lovely Girona Art Museum. Due its mountainous terrain Girona is also a popular destination for cycling enthusiasts, whilst theatre lovers can enjoy a performance at the Auditorium Jardins del Castell.
Girona has a lively nightlife and offers a wide variety of bars, restaurants and cafés serving anything from local Basque and Catalan delicacies to traditional tapas and an array of international cuisines.
Other popular landmarks to see are the 14th-century Sant Feliu, the historical fortifications, the 11th-century Monastery of San Daniel, and the characteristic Girona Bridge.
Girona Train station offers direct links to bustling Barcelona and the picturesque province of Portbou. Booking.com offers a wide range of accommodation options and deals in Girona and around Catalonia.

Girona is a beautiful town to visit and close to several other fun destinations. It's packed with historical features from roman times to the renaissance and several views of amazing architecture and charm. From here we made easy trips to Cadaques, Besalu and Tos del Mar. The food scene and night life are also a real treasure. Tapas and Sangria while seated at the Placa de Independencia were amazing.

Girona is a small charming town with lots to see.
Girona is a small charming town with lots to see. It is also a great base for going around to several nearby places like Figueres, Besalu, Lloret de Mar, Platja de Aro etc. if you want to use the public transport. The annual "temps de flors" - a flower festival in May - is a very interesting time to be there. It is a hilly town, so some parts can be difficult to explore for people with limited mobility, without assistance.

We had a great time exploring Girona - the medieval cathedral, basilica, city walls, Arab baths and alleyways; the Eiffel bridge and others and seeing the architecture along the river. Lots of lovely restaurants with good Spanish food - very reasonably price for food and drink. 3 days was maybe a bit long as it's a small city with everything accessible on foot. Should maybe have visited Figueres or the coast as well. Would advise not to go during the flower festival in May - far too busy and some of the plastic flowers ruined the sites (eg. plastic apple trees on steps of 'Game of Thrones' scene)!

Beautiful city full of life and amazing food!
Beautiful city full of life and amazing food! We loved strolling the streets finding new corners and hidden places. If you come here, go to Xibarri. They have the best burgers and desserts! It is not a typical tourist city. That is what we love about it the most.
The location is the best ever… Right in the middle of the old town and just one block from the old Jewish quarter. Room was great. The only negative is that parking is especially difficult to locate. Expect to pay $30 per day unless you are fortunate enough to find a free spot on the street. Stairs could be a big issue for some folks who are not as fit as we are. We are 62 and 72 and took our luggage up to the fourth floor via the stairs. Not a big deal for me, but it would be for many
The location was perfect, and the staff was really helpful (Victor was the best host/introduction we experienced in our entire trip throughout Spain).
The apartment was spacious, well stocked, and in a great location for cycling and seeing the key sites around the older part of Girona. Nice views of the city/street on one side of the apartment (small 2nd story deck on the street side with cathederal view) and one of the bedrooms also had a view of the river and red bridge.
I was a bit put off by the name of the hotel - The Hotel BESTPRICE sounded like a cheap budget option. It was inexpensive, but it was very nice place to stay.
Very clean, comfy bed, crisp linen, everything worked, staff were friendly and the breakfast in a nearby cafe was good (but perhaps not every day if you're there for a while). I liked that the toiletries were in refillable containers without lots of wasteful plastic.
The hotel is in a great location in the old town next to the Basilica and Cathedral. Plenty of restaurants and shops on your doorstep. The staff in the hotel were so friendly and welcoming. The bedroom was a good size with great shower and the bed and pillows were amazing extremely comfortable. Overall i would recommend this hotel to all travellers. 5☆
I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Historic in Girona Spain. The hotel is family-run and provides fantastic service. The room was huge and comfortable, and the breakfast was delicious. The owner was very kind and even gave us a lift to the Girona Stadium for a football game together with his son. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Girona.
Stylish boutique hotel in a great location in the old town of Girona with plentiful restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel feels intimate and the decor is original. Staff were keen to make the stay perfect and the option to reserve the basement spa area is a nice touch. Nor are you charged for everything little thing.
Located only a short walk from old town, the hotel is comfortable, clean and the rooftop bar has excellent cocktails along with nice views of Girona. The staff is excellent and very helpful. I was able to leave my luggage and almost spend a full additional day in Girona before heading back to Barcelona at night.
We were in room 204. It's on the 2nd floor, so a bit of a hike up steep stairs. The room was full of original features, but had all the modern amenities required for an overnight or longer stay. Staff at the neighbouring Hotel Historic were very friendly and helpful. SUPERB location.
Friendly reception staff, impressively multi-lingual. Very close to the station and a short walk to the old town. No breakfast but many cafes nearby. Hotel was clean and comfortable but basic - e.g. No reading light or bedside lamp . It was a very quiet internal room
Great location just over the bridge from the old town. Spacious bedroom, comfy bed, decent sized bathroom, good shower. Outstanding meal in the hotel restaurant which is staffed by chefs and waiters trained at nearby 1 star Michelin restaurant.
We found ourselves back in the Girona area so booked at this hotel again. Love the comfy bed and great shower. We once again interacted with Audrey, Maria and Marti’ at the front desk and all continued to be very pleasant and helpful.
Property owners were the kindest. The service was outstanding and the hotel was like being inside a fairytale. The reality was way better than the pictures that are posted in the site. I would definitely stay there again!
Great location, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, hotel gives a discount on parking at a parking garage a few minutes walk away. There is a restaurant for breakfast (I think €13) but we didn’t eat there.
staff were friendly and very helpful. the facilities were clean, comfortable and exactly what a boutique hotel should have. the restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner.
You had to pick up the keys down the road at a local hotel. The apartment was very upscale and roomy. The rooms were bigger than what we experienced in other locations.
Excellent hotel in the centre of the old town. Close to all the attractions. Twin room had small private balcony. Very clean room with tea and coffee!!
