Molino Viejo is a fully restored old watermill oozing in character in the rural Almeria region of Andalucia in Southern Spain. Situated at the foothold of the Los Filabres mountain range it is ideal for groups of up to 15 people who want adventure or just to get away from the hustle and bustle of life! It is ideal for exploring the local area on foot, bike or vehicle, and ideal as a retreat or base for groups of activity seekers. With 6 bedrooms all ensuite, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, two lounges (one with the old mill infrastructure still in place as a feature), a yoga/relaxation/workout room and 6 terraces including one rooftop that has stunning views down the valley. There is a swimming pool, sun-loungers and secluded areas for your own peace and quiet. On the terrace outside the dining room is a BBQ. If you would like meals cooked for you we have our own vegan chef who cooks delicious healthy food, please book in advance. We have mountain bikes you can hire and a minibus with a driver for day excursions but please book in advance.
In 2002 I decided to turn my life around and gave a massive focus to my health, wellbeing and fitness. I became addicted to running and cycling and also realised the importance of time for quiet reflection, and when visiting some best friends who emigrated to this part of Spain, came across this old water mill which was my dream come true as a retreat for groups or large families to use as an inexpensive place to get away from the rat race. As a personal resilience trainer I know the importance of bringing quiet reflection time into our lives and the Old Mill is ideal for that.
The local area is very rural and away from the busy costas! The scenery is truly spectacular especially on a clear day from the peak of the Los Filabres mountain range which is over 15km up from the local town Seron. Also nearby is the old mining village of Las Menas, natural springs, the massive Lake Negratin, mini Hollywood, skiing at Sierra Nevada, Alhambra Palace at Granada all in amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in Europe.
