Known as the design district, Punavuori is a district in the southwestern part of the inner city of Helsinki. It is known for its brick-and-mortar shops, communal atmosphere and lively lifestyle. Today, Punavuori is home to 9,000 Helsinki residents and is the most densely populated district. Its streetscape is diverse: old factory buildings converted to office and residential use, Art Nouveau castles, Neo-Renaissance houses and funk buildings are in a melting harmony in the area. There are also blocks of wooden houses in the older part of town. The most popular offerings of Punavuori are boutiques, designer and brand stores, restaurants and sit-down bars. A large number of Design District shops are located in the area. One of Punavuori's central landmarks is the roughly 500-meter-long pedestrian street Iso Roobertinkatu or Roba. Popular attractions are, for example, the Mikael Agricola Church designed by Lars Sonck, Sinebrychoff Park , one of the city's most popular parks, and the Sinebrychoff Art Museum located next to it , and the Telakkaranta area or the Eira sea shore.
