In the late 18th century, amidst the growing interest in historical preservation and the revival of architectural landmarks, the Bastille Castle caught the eye of a visionary nobleman, Count Marcel de Montpensier. Inspired by the successful restoration of the Trophy of the Alps, Count de Montpensier recognised the potential of the Bastille Castle as a symbol of the region's history and as an idyllic location for a grand residence because of its private setting. To this day, the villa, steeped in heritage and opulence, remains a cherished link to the past, enchanting visitors with its majestic presence and inviting them to immerse themselves in the romance of its storied past and the luxury of its present-day comforts.
