Chateau de Puissentut is a sensitively restored medieval chateau nestled amongst the rolling Gascon hills. While the exterior is charmingly rustic the interior is fresh, modern and extremely comfortable. Scandinavian design furniture in teak, oak and metal complement the thick limestone walls. Luxurious, colourful textiles add softness, bright splashes of colour create warmth and artefacts collected from travels in Asia and objects picked up at local vide greniers and brocantes add plenty of interest. The spacious bedrooms are supremely, comfortable with deliciously crisp Egyptian cotton sheets on wonderfully large beds. The thick walls mean the rooms stay at a refreshing ambient temperature throughout the Summer. The two lounges with Wifi offer you an additional spot to relax and to enjoy TV, DVDs, Netflix etc, or curl up with a book from the library. The dining room with its long tables, is spacious, or take your meals outside in the courtyard. In the garden take time for yourself in a hammock, in the shade of the trees or if you're feeling more sociable enjoy time at the pool or the garden bar. Surrounded by woods and fields there are lots of options for lovely walks.

Together my husband and I - Dirk-Karel and Angela - have been welcoming guests here at Chateau de Puissentut for almost 10 years. We have experience of hosting all manner of events from holiday groups, to retreats, to weddings and restaurants and parties. It is always a pleasure to welcome new guests and we love to see returning friends. We aim to make your stay here as comfortable and relaxing as possible and are happy to help you with ideas about places to visit or to arrange massage treatments, yoga classes, cooking lessons, guided walks etc We are a family business with two children and a variety of animals (pets). Our aim at Chateau de Puissentut is to create a haven for our visitors and for the surrounding wildlife.

The Gers is known as the 'Tuscany of France', and it is indeed reminiscent of the region with its rolling hills, pockets of woodland and villages that cling to rocky ridges and hill tops. The Gers is famous for its bastide towns and villages, fortified with high walls and streets laid out in grid systems centred around shady halles. Local delicacies include Armagnac, Floc and Foie Gras which you can sample and purchase direct from the producers or pick up in one of the many local markets. The markets are a joy, with stalls filled with local produce and local people who not only flock there to purchase provisions but to exchange news. In the evenings the best entertainment is to head to a night market and fetes, which all the large villages and towns host throughout the Summer. Enjoy regional dishes and wines from the food stalls, sitting amongst the villagers at long trestle tables. When you're finished you can do a bit of shopping or enjoy the disco. The Gers is a rural idyll, little known to tourists which means you'll have a truly French experience. But if you find you've had enough of sunflowers and fields you can always head to Toulouse for a stylish, metropolitan fix.
