Old medieval bastide, the village of Bassoues built a castrum in the eleventh century, then becomes a century later property of the archbishops of Auch. Fortified in the second half of the 14th century, it develops quietly over the centuries before taking the face it presents today. From its rich past, there is still an important architectural and historical heritage to discover passing through the region. Food lovers will also enjoy local specialties such as foie gras and Armagnac produced in the region. Marciac village is a 14 km drive away. Founded in the late 13th century, the fortified town, at the heart of Gascony, is famous for its festival, Jazz in Marciac, which has taken place every year in the first fortnight of August since 1978. This internationally famous festive and convivial event has welcomed prestigious artists from around the world, a must see for music lovers!
