Appleby Barn is a unique, luxury property in a very special setting. Tucked away at the very end of a long private lane, you’ll find Appleby Barn nestled on the banks of the River Avon in the grounds of The Old Mill, surround by a beautiful English cottage garden. The barn has been finished with every comfort in mind from natural linen bedding to snuggly fur throws on the veranda to wrap yourself in when it’s chilly. Luxury scented candles to gorgeous toiletries. You’ll find meticulous attention to detail when you stay in this one off countryside haven. With buses running regularly and the main line train station in Chippenham only a ten minute drive, there are great transport links. Appleby Barn is surrounded by many beautiful walks. It is a wonderful place to stay if site seeing is in your plans … close by is the beautiful famous city of Bath, Stonehenge & Avebury both famous for their stones, Castle Coombe (voted the prettiest village in England) and many other pretty Cotswold villages & towns. Longleat Estate, Bowood Estate with its fantastic golf course and of course the enchanting village of Lacock is on your doorstep. Lacock is a village like no other … quaint, wonky cottages with honesty stalls out the front, The historical Lacock Abbey where Harry Potter was filmed, the birthplace of photography with the Fox Talbot museum and of course very friendly West Country locals! Lacock has four excellent country pubs. A wonderful Restaurant, tea rooms, a bakery and a village shop with the best deli counter with homemade specialities and freshly brewed coffee, along with lots of other artisan shops. Appleby barn is in the grounds of The Old Mill, which dates back to doomsday, 1066. Sitting along the River Avon, benefiting from the largest drop in the river, we produce hydro power electricity, which we use to run our home and Appleby Barn. The River Avon offers the chance to fish, kayaking, boating or to just sit and relax on the bank, with a picnic 🌸
