East Lodge is easily accessible for those travelling from either the north or south with the A1 just seven miles away. The gateway town of Leyburn also lies just 15 minutes west of East Lodge and is set in the heart of Wensleydale. Leyburn is the perfect spot to pick up the essentials for your stay as it offers a good choice of local shops, restaurants, cafés, and even a cinema. There are also banks, a post office as well as its celebrated Friday market. The quaint town of Masham is within easy reach with two award-winning butchers, a grocer, bakery, small supermarket and a monthly farmer’s market (on the 1st Sunday of the month), making it a great spot to stock up on local produce for your stay. Further on from here and you can visit the cathedral city of Ripon which is just 11 miles away with so much to offer including the magnificent 7th-century cathedral, many museums, independent shopping as well as a popular market every Thursday full of artisan sellers and local produce. York, a vibrant festival city with Roman roots and a Viking past, is well worth a day trip from East Lodge.
