Nearby is Osmington Mills, which is a seaside hamlet with a pretty approach and magnificent views across Weymouth Bay to the Isle of Portland, and the Smugglers Inn pub. The seaside town of Weymouth has a Georgian seafront and 17th century harbour. If you’re bringing the little ones, Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park gives them the chance to be a pirate or a mermaid for the day, while they learn about the magical creatures off the southern coast. Weymouth Pavilion situated on the Esplanade offers a range of entertainment with something suitable for all the family. Weymouth makes a great base for walking cycling or riding. Popular routes include the Rodwell Trail which goes from Weymouth to Portland and the RSPB Radipole Lake Walk. Lodmoor Country Park, a 15 minute stroll from the Esplanade in Weymouth, offers numerous sport and recreation areas, footpaths and a nature reserve. The historic, county town of Dorchester offers a large selection of restaurants, cafes, museums, two cinemas, and a popular open air and covered market (founded 1860) taking place every Wednesday and Sunday morning.
