Company information

Bolthole Retreats was founded in 2017 by Martin McWilliam and is based in Cheltenham. We are the leading independent agency for Cotswold holiday rental properties. We work closely with owners and housekeepers to ensure that guests have a truly memorable stay. We pride ourselves on our local knowledge, whether it be of a local farm shop, cycle routes or events. Our aim is to enable guests to have the opportunity to enjoy authentic Cotswold experiences, from the Cotswold experts, in a lovely Cotswold property that suits their needs.

Property information

Constructed from the local mellow-hued Cotswold stone, Honeysuckle Cottage forms part of a peaceful terrace of cottages. To the front of the cottage are hedge-lined fields and to the rear, far-reaching views of the Cotswolds. This is an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and it’s not uncommon to see herds of deer as well as birds of prey in the skies above. Honeysuckle is a traditional stone cottage that is filled with character and charm and retains many original features including fabulous deep-set stone mullioned windows with window seats, stone fireplaces, and exposed stone walls. Its elevated location means it has been built over three levels. You enter on the ground floor into an inviting, light-filled living room with a wood-burning stove, the bathroom is also on this floor. Down on the lower ground floor, you’ll find a cosy dining room with the original flagstone floor and a well-equipped kitchen. There is also a door to the rear garden. Book with us to get exclusive discounts to top attractions and experiences.

Neighbourhood information

Blockley offers a picture-perfect escape for those looking to explore the Cotswolds yet stay away from the crowds. The village rose to prominence in the 18th and 19th centuries as a centre for the English silk industry and lies within the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a fantastic community-run village shop and café, and the Great Western Arms pub and Crown Inn, both just a short stroll away. • The Blockley Café is fully licensed, offering coffee, breakfasts, and lunches. The café also serves exceptional food on Wednesday to Saturday evenings and guests are advised to book well ahead to ensure a table. • A 5-minute drive away is the Churchill Arms pub in Paxford. This beautiful 17th-century Cotswold inn is owned by a talented chef who trained under chefs including Gordon Ramsey. • Chipping Campden is a 5-minute drive (or a beautiful 1-hour walk) away and has a range of lovely restaurants and cafés to choose from. Places to Visit: • Mill Dene Garden (0.4 miles) • Batsford Arboretum (3.4 miles) • Broadway Tower (3.9 miles) Walking • Blockley’s unspoiled location amidst the rolling landscape of the Cotswold hills affords it with a plethora of walks.
