The hotel and rooms were cold when we arrived on Sunday and they gave our Sister an oil filled rad for her room as she feels the cold but the hotel policy was no heating until a certain time of year. They also wedged every external door open which made the reception area uncomfortable to sit in and have a drink.

We only had time to walk around the canal before leaving, but saw so many pubs we would have visited if we had longer. We were lucky to have arrived on Sunday and got to see the market.
The walk alone was beautiful, but next time we'll hire a row boat too.

The town of Stratford upon avon was so charming and beautiful with all the traditional black and white buildings and a good choice of pubs, cafes and tea rooms!
I loved wandering around and there were wonderful and colourful hanging baskets and flower borders everywhere! It looked stunning!

Visit to the historical houses are a must. Beautiful views along the river Avon (pop into the church, walk around the grounds, followed by a quiet pint at the Black Swan "Mucky Duck"). 1940s tea room is always a lovely stop for tea & cake etc.

Just outside the tourist season there was still a vibrant sunday street market with lots of good food. I would avoid it at peak times but when we went it wasn't crowded and even late on Sunday we could just walk into a restaurant and get a table and also go on a boat trip. It is a lovely place and of course the Theatre is world-beating. But avoid the crowds if you can.

Stratford is in a nice setting and the parkland by the river is great. The staff in the catering facilities at the Theatre were a bit offhand, and the town itself is looking a bit tired. Sadly Shakespeare's birthplace is now hidden by a modern monstrosity of a visitor centre. We were there on a fine August weekday and were still able to get parked in Arden Road car park.

We love going to the theatre and were lucky to enjoy three plays during our stay. The performances were fantastic and lived up to our expectations. We also loved our behind the scenes tour of the theatre.
As well as Shakespeare, we loved our trip to the Butterfly Farm, well worth a visit to walk amongst beautiful butterflies and see some amazing creatures.

Lovely property, amazing grounds and great locality to the town of Stratford upon Avon.
The hotel offers plenty of facilities including an on-site spa and treatment centre.
The rooms were tidy and clean with a generous bathroom. Breakfast had plenty of options.
The spa treatments were excellent and the sauna and steam room were the best I have been in in a while.
Hotel is in the centre of Stratford Upon Avon, only a very short walk to the river and theatre. It is a great base from which to explore the town and surrounding area. Breakfast buffet is excellent, as is the hot menu which is freshly cooked for each order.
