Situated just off the M5 and 2 miles from Gloucester city centre, this Holiday Inn offers modern bedrooms, leisure facilities as well as a restaurant, a bar and free parking. Very friendly welcome from staff and the check-in/check-out was super speedy. My room was cleaned exceptionally well and little extras like toiletries/tea & coffee facilities were ideal for a very short trip. Great location beside the motorway allowing for quick departure the next morning.

There is a good variety of shops in Gloucester itself and all the main supermarkets, home-living shops etc are within walking distance of the centre. The Quays (which is a lovely setting) is very good for specialised shops and restaurants.
Gloucester is a lovely city with plenty to see & do. There are plenty of car parks & we found the car parking tariffs reasonable ((£2.50 for 3 hours). We parked by the harbour which we found to be central to both the town, harbour & shopping outlet. Gloucester is a mix of the old & the new. A visit to the cathedral is a must, entry is free but they do ask for a donation (amount is of your choice). There are lots of side streets to wander down, along with the shopping outlet & harbour. Will definitely be going back,
Gloucester seems to have lots of interesting landmarks eg historic docks, museums, Cathedral. For a city centre, locating parking wasn't too difficult, nor too expensive. Lots of nice eateries and shops. Lots of period architecture.
Liked the board games available in the bar. Didn't like that their were no managers in the hotel for the whole weekend and nobody to authorise my refund or to take charge of the situation. If you don't employ the right people to deal with customer service issues then you are never going to receive good reviews if there is a problem. All staff should be customer focussed but this is down to the BW training. Best Western?? Worst Western more like. When checking in...make sure they don't pre authorise MORE than the cost of your booking as it is made very difficult to get it back...even if it is THEIR FAULT and not yours.
Catfish Hotel - Very disappointing the bar area was small and uninviting no Brandy or cocktails couldn’t even serve a bloody Mary as no tomato juice ! Nothing like the picture Random plastic bowls filled with water and carpets covered in dog hair. The Pool are was nice only positive thing for the facilities. Room basic mould on the windows and view of the bins hair in the bath and sink not cleaned just all in all not worth £149 per night
Plenty of interest in the city, cathedral, museums etc. Eating choices could have been better. Gloucester is a little rough around the edges, the poverty is obvious, but definitely a worthwhile destination.
After booking, noticed guest needed photo id. Guest did not have but was able to discuss with booking.com who contacted Central Hotel, and agreed debit card and birth certificate would be sufficient. Room was as requested, a disabled room 004. The late check out was helpful, because of the bus times leaving Gloucester. Guest will want to visit again and on checking on leaving, we were informed that she can book directly and pay with debit card, this is helpful so it does not involve a third party.
The room was large, which was great since we bought our own travel cot for our 6 month old. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Hotel is a listed building, lovely grounds. The hotel did well with social distancing and there were sanitiser stations at the entrances and exits. Great location for visiting Cotswolds villages. We also visited Gloucester Quays and the cathedral is a must. All in all, a great relaxing stay and thanks to the hotel staff for being so accommodating.
Gloucester
Nice, clean hotel with really friendly staff. We had our supper and breakfast at the hotel. Supper was really delicious! We had spa access included with our room booking and we had a really relaxing time there. Lovely location from Gloucester and not far from the Cotswolds.
I liked the pool and jacuzzi area as this was a feature of the hotel. I'm afraid that there was not much else good about it. Our stay at Gloucester
excellent breakfast, excellent location very close to the cathedral. The hotel itself is an ancient galleried inn, full of character and history
Location was ok. May be marking on the roads could be a little better as there is another hotel on a similar exit which confused us a few times.
