Isle of Carna, secluded Scottish Island, Loch Sunart is a recently renovated holiday home in Acharacle, where guests can make the most of its garden and barbecue facilities. Rent a private island in Scottish highlands. Unique self-catering cottages on uninhabited 600 acre Scottish island in the remote sea loch, Loch Sunart. Conservation and biodiversity regeneration is the island priority. It is beautiful, peaceful and a place to be at one with the natural world around us. The cottages are warm and comfortable, surrounded by abundant wildlife including otters, seals, eagles, red deer, porpoise and the occasional dolphin in the Loch. Use the island boat to explore the surrounding waters, walk, fish, swim, snorkel, dive, paint, read explore. Enjoy time and space away from the hustle and bustle either alone or with loved ones. There are a few places in the world where one can feel at piece and free from modern life , Carna is one such place. The buildings are just where you eat and sleep the experience that you will take away comes from your inner self, allow your self to immerse in a natural world , where the only sights and sounds come from nature. The air is off the Atlantic ocean and as clean and fresh as as almost any where in the world, this helps you sleep and recover physically & mentally. The island allows you to wonder and explore Atlantic native rain forest, meadows, wetlands, rocky sea shores and with the boat provided the coastline and other lochs, you can swim snorkel or dive the rich in wildlife waters that surround the island. Carna island has been welcoming visitors for more than a hundred fifty years , Allison and Andy have been carrying on that tradition since 2003 with vast experience in the challenges of hosting on a remote island, your comfort and safety are their number one priority, Andy & Allison are also responsible for the regeneration of biodiversity on Carna. They are passionate about Carna and love to share this beautiful place with guests and friends old and new. Andy has more than forty years experience as a professional marina, sea angling , a wildlife guide and photographer, His hobbies include SCUBA diving , motorcycles and world travel . Allison has retired from nursing and turned her vast personal skills to caring for the guests on Carna. Her hobbies include drawing and painting her surroundings, snorkelling, outdoor life, and world travel with Andy.
In the Scottish Highlands the concept of "neighbourhood" is very different to that of a city or town, we are not amenities driven, for sure we need basic amenities to sustain living here, but what makes our "neighbourhood" is the people, our community, and a warm welcome. We are not a place to tick off things and places seen or done, more to experience an often very different holiday from more conventual venues. The Island of Carna sits in Loch Sunart i a sea loch in the north west Scottish Highlands, the Isle of Carna sits guarding the entrance to inaccessible Loch Teacuis. Here on Carna there are no man made "attractions" there are two other cottages on the island making it remote, secluded and quiet with only the breath-taking scenery and wildlife around you.
