Award-winning Keeper's Cottage is situated on the stunning Straloch estate with breathtaking scenery and a beautiful loch nearby. The open-plan ground floor features a comfortable sitting area with wood-burning stove, a sleek kitchen with stone worktops and a bold contemporary staircase with steel rails and oak treads. A mix of period and modern furniture, paintings and solid oak flooring creates a homely but elegant space. Upstairs, a stunning reclaimed roll top bath sits pride of place alongside new bathroom fittings. Two elegant double bedrooms with views over the glen feature designer wallpaper. Beds can either be double or twin. Keeper's Cottage is beautifully warm and eco friendly thanks to the biomass boiler that runs off waste timber from the estate. You'll find crisp cotton sheets on the comfortable Hypnos beds, snug feather duvets, fluffy towels and delicious smelling handmade soap, shower gel and shampoo by The Highland Soap Company. Little touches include unstinting storage for outdoor garments, a huge wall mounted map of the region, and an all-important separate drinks fridge. Lovely tranquil situation with views overlooking rolling fields of sheep and a waterfall and stream in the back garden. Great walks from your door, kayaking, fishing, bespoke picnics. Dog friendly.

I was brought up at Straloch and now live here full time with my family, plus Freda and Fink, our black labradors, and Smudge, the Border Terrier. Not to mention Rita and Toffee, our re-homed donkeys, and several pet sheep. I never tire of the beautiful scenery at Straloch, whatever the weather or season, and I love the wildlife which is all around, especially the birds and red squirrels. I am into bird song and can recognise most of our resident and visiting birds just by listening. I am happy to share this knowledge with anyone who's interested! I'm also on had to advise about things to do on the estate or locally. Basically my aim as host is that you have a wonderful experience and go home with lots of memories to cherish. I live nearby and am on hand if you need help with anything. I am always happy to give tips about where to walk on the estate and places to visit or eat locally.l

Tucked up one of Perthshire's prettiest glens, Straloch is located on the southern fringe of the Cairngorms National Park, right in the heart of Scotland. Set against the dramatic backdrop of a steep rocky ridge with a tranquil loch in front, the scenery is nothing short of spectacular. To the north there are miles of rugged heather hills and mountains to escape to and to the south the gently rolling pastures and wooded hills of Strathardle glen. And with 3,000 acres to discover, it's a nature lover's paradise. Straloch is a hidden gem for families with children. Enjoy outdoor adventures like den building in the Millennium Wood, collecting eggs, or kayaking on the loch. The games room is shared with the other holiday cottage. It has a pool table, table tennis and darts and is heated. There's a lockable bike shed for your use and we also have bikes you can borrow (at your own risk). There are 3 kayaks which you can take out on the loch (2 singles, 1 double) and a rowing boat. Buoyancy aids of all sizes are provided and MUST BE WORN. This is a condition of use and you do so at your own risk. Boats are only available for use from 1 April to 31 October. There's also a well maintained hard tennis court up at the main Straloch house. We have racquets and balls you can borrow. 1 April to 31 October only.
