Lake Cottage is a delightful 19th century Grade II listed country holiday home in a beautiful location, overlooking the steep-sided Nailsworth Valley and a deep and beautiful lake surrounded by woodland. The cottage feels a million miles from the modern world, yet it is just a 10-minute drive from Stroud and Nailsworth and has two pubs nearby that are easily reached on foot. As you approach Lake Cottage, down a quiet, no-through country lane, you’ll pass towering fir trees, an ancient graveyard and wonderful views across and down the western valley side of the Nailsworth Stream. Lake Cottage sits tucked between The Old Priory manor house and a lake, which is surrounded by natural woodland. The cottage is in the ideal location to visit Stroud’s awarding winning Saturday farmers’ market or the charms of Nailsworth, just 10 minutes’ drive away, with its many independent shops and wide choice of eateries. Both Stroud and Nailsworth are easily reached on foot or by bike along the Stroud Valleys Trail, as are Rodborough and Minchinhampton Commons – fabulous wide-open spaces with fantastic views, pubs and even an ice cream parlour. Tetbury, known for its wonderful coffee shops, antiques emporiums and Highgrove, the home of HRH Prince Charles, is only 20 minutes’ drive away. A little further afield is the market town of Cirencester, Cheltenham with its famous racecourse, Gloucester and the Roman City of Bath.
