What an amazing place the rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious and the staff were extremely welcoming. Really a home away from home vibe. I can highly recommend Lochindaal Hotel to anyone wanting to visit Islay. The food at the pub and the breakfasts were amazing. Great value for money.

Staff were amazing! The owner Ian couldn’t do enough. Breakfast was great. Try the rolls with potato scone. Sets you up for a day at the distilleries! Locals in the adjoining bar were also very friendly.

Port Charlotte is the other end of the island from most of the distilleries, but that a small issue as nothing is more than 30mins away. The owners of the Lochindaal Hotel are lovely. Very hospitable, helpful and very accommodating. Iain is especially lovely and a good cook too. They own the Lochindaal Seafood restaurant at the end of the village and their seafood plate and platter is great. The sauce in which the scallops is cooked is the best I’ve tasted. The hotel itself has a bar and lounge which can get a bit noisy if you are in one of the rooms out the back. But it was only an issue one Saturday night when we had the window open. It was a Saturday, so what can you do? We just accepted it as part of the deal. Breakfast was great too. The choice is endless. Iain would go out of his way for anyone. The rooms themselves were bright and clean and modern. TV, small fridge and kettle. We stayed 4 nights and it was ideal.

The location is perfect for peace and quiet being somewhat removed from the busier Port Ellen. The room was finished to a very high standard with the most comfortable bed. Downstairs the bar is a veritable sweet shop for lovers of single malts with a vast array from the Islay distilleries. The hotel is run by Alexander who has an extensive knowledge of his stock and once he knows your taste in whisky can guide you towards bottles you have probably never heard of, and not necessarily the expensive variety. I will definitely be back next year for a longer stay.

I had the family room which was very comfortable and has a great bathroom with large bath, great shower, underfloor heating and heated towel rail if you happen to get rained on! Ian cooked me a wonderful breakfast each morning and it really was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. I had a bike and they let me keep it inside the hallway when it wasn't in use. The room is above the bar of the pub. Music gets switched off at 10/11pm, but if you want to go to sleep earlier I recommend bringing some ear plugs. None of it bothered me! I would highly recommend this place.
