We loved the cosy atmosphere of the hotel. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff we met and the patrons too. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast! Great location too if you're planning some whisky tasting. We highly recommend the Lochindaal Hotel.

Beautiful old manor house. Large room and bathroom. Very comfortable and clean. Really nice breakfast. Great location central on Islay. Free parking available on-site. Lovely rooms to sit in downstairs for a drink or just to chat with other guests. Google maps did take us down a narrow gravel road to get there, but the main entrance is along the A847. Loved our stay here.

We stayed here during Feis Ile 2026, and although it is not close to most of the distilleries, it is absolutely worth staying here. The place is magical, with beautiful views and incredibly welcoming hosts. The breakfast is delicious, and there are lovely walks to enjoy in the surrounding area. 100% recommended!

What guests said about Bowmore:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 10

As always the people.

As always the people. The bar of the Bowmore hotel is great to watch sport. Don't try the local chippy/Chinese...it's awful. Plus you'll get issued with a paper spoon...very eco-friendly, but as much use as chocolate fireguard! If you don't have a car book your activities early!

BOWMORE is a good town to make it your base "camp" to go...

BOWMORE is a good town to make it your base "camp" to go around to visit the distilleries. It meets your basic needs for restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy, post office and a place to get gas. The people were friendly and helpful. For us during our time period for the visit, there was a big street repaving project going on which made the streets very rough to drive on - I believe that this improvement should be finished now. We enjoyed our visit here. The one piece of advice that I would make - is to make reservations for dinner at any place you want to eat at.

Bowmore is a small but very pretty town/ village right on...

Bowmore is a small but very pretty town/ village right on the loch shore - originating as a "planned village" from the late 1700s (go to the Islay museum in Port Charlotte to find out more). It has a whisky distillery of course which sadly was not running tours when we visited, due to covid. It has a couple of small shops that are great for books and presents, cafes, and a very unusual round church.
