Moorside Cottage is a beautiful stone cottage dating from circa. 1760. The cottage is in the heart of the pretty village of Ampleforth, with two pubs, a well stocked village store and a lovely coffee shop. This spacious cottage filled with light, it has recently been renovated by the owners Chris & Alison who have created a real home from home. The sitting room has a log burner and comfy sofas for relaxing at the end of a day out walking, while the separate dining room looks out over the village and is perfect for gathering together to catch up on the days adventures. The three bedrooms are an oasis of calm, tastefully decorated with a restful palette and enjoy lovely views out over the village and the pretty garden. The second bathroom is also on the first floor, it has a luxurious walk in shower, perfect for an invigorating start to the day. Outside you will find a pretty terraced garden with a table and chairs for al fresco dining while the bench under the arbour is the perfect spot for enjoying a sundowner as you take in the delights of this lovely garden. Directly from the cottage you can pick up local walking trails and head out exploring. Step into the pretty entrance lobby and through to the sitting room, it is beautifully furnished and filled with light from the large sash window. Two comfy sofas and a love seat provide plenty of space for relaxing by the log fire, there’s a smart TV too, perfect for watching your favourite movies. From the sitting room just across the hall is the separate dining room, which also enjoys views out to the village. The kitchen is a cook’s dream, real thought and care has gone into the design and the attention to detail makes for a beautiful space for cooking up a hearty breakfast or a tasty supper. Everything you need is here, a range oven, fridge freezer and microwave, there’s also a Nespresso machine for those wake you up morning coffees! With lovely views out to the garden, cooking could never be a chore...

Opposite the cottage is Heart’s Coffee House serving excellent coffee, delicious food and daily baked bread which is always a fast sell-out! The village also provides a well-stocked shop and Post Office, a five minute walk from the property. Both village pubs, The White Swan and The White Horse Inn, have reputations for good food. Ampleforth Abbey has been home to a Community of Benedictine monks since 1802. The Abbey church is open to visitors who might like to simply look around. Explore the beautiful lakes, trails and woodlands or join a behind the scenes tour of the Abbey’s orchards and Cider Mill to see how Ampleforth Abbeys’ famous cider and cider brandy is made. Visitors can take advantage of the sports centre facilities at Ampleforth College and within a 5 mile radius there is fishing, pony trekking, golf, cycle hire and the newly opened cycle trails from Sutton Bank National Parks Centre. Just a few miles away discover the pretty market town of Helmsley, the only market town in the North york Moors National Park, here you will discover pubs, restaurants a small department store and a range of interesting independent deli’s and shops. Close at hand are Rievaulx Abbey and Byland Abbey and the National Trust properties of Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terrace and Temples. Further afield are Whitby on the coast and Goathland and Pickering in the North York Moors National Park. Masham, Ripon and Harrogate are to the west towards the Yorkshire Dales National Park while Castle Howard, home of Brideshead Revisited and Scampston Walled Garden lie to the east, the historic City of York is 20 miles to the south, all within easy reach.
