The business was originally developed from the humble restorations of the historic Coppermines buildings, situated in the Coniston Coppermines Valley by Philip Johnston and his family who still own our business today, making us one of the last independent agencies here in the Lake District. Over the years we have significantly grown to now offer over 90 hand-picked, unique, self-catering Lake District cottages (many pet-friendly), all of which are situated within the UNESCO World Heritage boundary.

Just south of Coniston Village and not too far from the Ship Inn lies much loved stone built cottage, within easy walking distance of the village, lake, pubs and footpaths to the fells. With 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, this bright & welcoming cottage makes for a perfect base for small groups or families looking to explore the Lakes. The spacious open plan kitchen diner is fully equipped for family groups and leads out onto a deck with lake views, perfect for relaxing after a long day on the hills. The cosy living room has a log burner, comfy sofas and a TV. To the rear of the cottage lies its hot tub, tucked away in the garden. It's a great base for Coniston being walking distance to the village along the old railway line and close the Ship Inn. The larger than average garden is terraced on three levels, including a bbq area, and runs down to a lawn at the bottom of which runs a small stream. Lovers of all things 'outdoor' will find comfort here. Footpaths & cycle ways are close by, going down to the lake for the Cumbrian Way, or into the fells towards The Old Man of Coniston and beyond. Netherbeck is the perfect base for families and friends looking to explore the local area.

Coniston is simply an excellent base for any Lake District holiday. The village is packed with friendly pubs, local shops and lively cafes and there is incredible walking straight from the village centre, including the iconic Coniston Old Man. The village enjoys ample access to Coniston Water lake shore, with Coniston Boating Centre offering paddle-boarding, kayaking, sailing and more. There are also plenty of opportunities for wild-swimming including the lake, beautiful mountain tarns and the picturesque Church Beck river with its stunning waterfalls and deep, crystal clear pools. For cyclists, there are spectacular off-road mountain biking trails including those at nearby Grizedale Forest, as well as some stunning road routes through some of the country's most beautiful scenery. For those who enjoy a quieter pace, The Ruskin Museum, which depicts the fascinating history of the area including the famous water speed record attempt of Donald Campbell is a must visit. While on the eastern shores of the lake lies Brantwood, the Victorian home of John Ruskin, where visitors can explore the historic house and vibrant arts centre and enjoy some delicious food from The Terrace cafe with its breath-taking lake and mountain views. The wider Lake District area is also very easily accessible from Coniston, with popular destinations such as Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere just a short drive away.
