Whitstable town has been famous for some time for its Oysters, they play a large part in Whitstables commerce and culture. Although with it being a seaside town it is not just about the oysters, it has a range of excellent fish and chip shops and restaurants which use most of the locally caught fresh fish. You can even enjoy a day sailing aboard the Thames barge which is the one of the oldest remaining barges left in Britain built in 1892. The town also holds a thriving pub scene with a handful of them offering live music over the weekend. There is also a selection of museums and galleries across the Whitstable high street. Getting around Whitstable train station is a 16 minute walk and there is various bus stops across the high street.
