WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT THE AREA... Crackington Haven is a beautiful unspoilt coastal village, brimming with characterful properties. At the bottom of the village is the stunning beach, a lovely pub (try the Sunday lunch carvery!) and 2 deli / cafes for delicious pasties and ice creams, depending on the weather! Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Crackington Haven is a fine example of the rugged north Cornwall coast. Imposing rock formations, cliffs and flourishing woodland form the most spectacular landscape. Walkers can take the woodland route to Pencarrow Point, or the circular route. Look out for some of Cornwall’s resident wildlife. More experienced walkers will enjoy the 10-mile route from Crackington Haven to Bude. If you’re keen to get in the water, Crackington Haven can offer a great spot for surfers in the right conditions. If the waves are messy, hop in with a body board. The beach is lifeguarded throughout the summer, making it perfect for families. Its pebbly shore offers prime spots for rock pooling, too. The nearby parish of St Gennys is worth exploring. Set just half a mile outside the village, St Gennys is a beautiful historical area, offering a beautiful church and tales of shipwrecks. From here, the incredibly secluded Strangles Beach can be found. The walk down to the beach is challenging, though offers a unique view of the rugged north Cornwall coastline. There are a lot of lovely dog walks in the area which include coastal walks. However, the beach is closed to dogs between Easter Sunday and the 30th September. You can go to Widemouth Bay any time of the year. To the west, the bustling seaside resort of Bude has two golden sandy beaches, perfect for both novice and experienced surfers. If you’re keen to catch a few waves, there are plenty of places to hire a wetsuit and board. Swimmers can also enjoy the 1930’s sea pool.
