Poppy Cottage is a delightful, mid-terrace, three-storey, 18th Century cottage in the pretty village of Broadwell, lying between the popular Cotswold towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. The cottage has been beautifully refurbished and styled, while retaining its original character and features a cosy living-dining room with a log burner and a separate kitchen overlooking a pretty courtyard garden. Poppy Cottage sleeps four adults in two king-size bedrooms, with one family bathroom. At the rear of the cottage is a sunny courtyard with a dining table and four seats. Just 5 minutes’ walk away is the Fox Inn and a picturesque village green. Broadwell is an historic and tranquil village that dates to 708AD, with a church - St Paul’s - that was first mentioned in the Domesday Book. Sitting just 1.5 miles from Stow-on-the-Wold and 3.5 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh, Broadwell is an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds. The village sits near a tributary of the River Evenlode, which after rainfall rushes across the road near to the village common – a lovely green area that guests can walk to and enjoy, perhaps before or after having a drink or meal at the Fox Inn on the far side of the common. If you head to Stow-on-the-Wold there is a choice of restaurants, cafes and pubs to suit all budgets, including The Porch House, The Old Butchers, The Sheep, Number Four and Lucy’s Tearoom. This area is famed for its walking. Sitting right in the middle of the glorious rolling Cotswold hills, keen walkers have plenty of choice.
