The River House is a luxurious oak framed property that sleeps 4 guests with enviable views across the River Brathay towards Black Fell, Park Fell and Great Howe. The open plan kitchen, dining and living room open out onto a slate terrace and the large picture windows provide you with fantastic uninterrupted views. The open plan living room has ample space to relax and take in the views and the dining table converts into a pool table for extra entertainment. There are two beautifully furnished en-suite double rooms, one with a bath and the other a shower room. There is an additional toilet in the hallway. The River House is part of a small private development of exclusive houses including The Nest (sleeps 2) and The Pavilion (sleeps 4). They each have their own private parking and entrances and can be rented together for larger groups up to ten guests or separately as required.

The bustling town of Ambleside is just a mile away and has become a popular tourist resort offering a diverse range of eateries from picnic takeaways to a Michelin starred restaurant. It boasts three cinemas, gift shops, outdoor clothing stores, hotels, cafes, pubs and a park with outdoor activities. It even has its own Roman ruins to explore, for those interested in history. Of course England’s largest lake, Windermere, is on the doorstep offering all the fun of a variety of water sports, lake cruises and is just a great place to sit and watch the world go by. For those who wish to explore further afield, Ambleside is a connection point for buses to connect guests with the wider towns and outstanding scenery of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Leaving the car behind and jumping on a bus to explore the National Park not only helps to look after the spectacular landscape but also gives passengers the opportunity to see it without the challenge of negotiating narrow, and sometimes steep, country lanes or search for parking at your destination. By sitting back watching the landscape go by, the journey becomes part of your adventure!
