Merries Byre is a lovely, comfortable family home in the beautiful Suffolk town of Southwold. Located a minute from the High Street and Common and an easy walk to the beach; it's a perfect base for a great holiday. The house offers homely, practical living space and a sheltered, southerly aspect garden which is sunny and bright. The house sleeps 5+2 people comfortably in 3 bedrooms (kingsize + futon / twin room / single room / sofa bed in lounge) - with plenty of storage/hanging space in each room. The large sociable kitchen has french windows leading to a south facing garden with patio and lawn and the spacious lounge has a real fire for cosy nights in. A high chair is available for guest use. Toilets upstairs and down. Please note that access to the main bathroom is through the single bedroom (with the upstairs toilet accessible from the landing). The garden has private gate access to Blackmill Road making it ideal for cyclists and dog walkers. A travel cot/bed rail/waterproof under sheet for toddlers can be arranged on request. Stair gate is fitted at the top of the stairs. One well behaved dog welcome. Dogs are allowed full access to the downstairs and garden area but we kindly ask that you do not allow them to go/sleep upstairs. Dogs must not be left alone in the house as barking due to separation issues disturbs the neighbours. PLEASE NOTE – Minimum 2 night stay - a supplement applies for 2 night stays, payable direct prior to your stay. Minimum 7 night stay during Summer holidays. We do try to be as flexible as possible so please contact us if you have a specific request. For more than 5 guests we also make an extra charge to cover laundry/extra cleaning costs.

My extended family and I have spent many years visiting Southwold for holidays and it has a very special place in our hearts. Merries Byre is our home from home, not fussy and overdone but comfy and cosy. All our children learnt to ride bikes at the tennis courts and now that they have grown up, they enjoyed the other delights that this lovely quaint town has to offer. It's our happy place and we hope it becomes yours too.

Merries Byre is very centrally located in Southwold. The town has a lot of independent shops offering everything from art to camping equipment, craft to clothes. There are many places to eat such as The Two Magpies Bakery (where you will find a fantastic selection of artisan breads, pastries and cakes), The Sail Loft, The Lord Nelson, fish & chips from Mark's Place or Mrs Ts at the harbour, or more upmarket fare from The Swan or Sutherland House. There is something for everyone. Southwold is a traditional, unspoilt Suffolk seaside town. There are plenty of things to do around the town from visiting the Lighthouse or Amber Museum to taking a gin or beer tour around the Adnams Brewery. Why not try your hand at pitch and putt, tennis, crabbing or surfing (at the Southwold Surf School - summer months only) or catch a film at the unique Electric Picture Palace cinema which is on Merries Byre's doorstep in Blackmill Road. The area is a walkers, cyclists and dog-lovers paradise, with the Common on your doorstep and beach just a short walk away.
