From beginning to end we were looked after very well. Both the restaurant bar area and the separate hotel rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was good.

We only went into Ipswich town to visit the harbour area on one occasion which wasn't very busy at the time, not a single boat movement while we were there, probably because it was a hot day.
We preferred our visits to Southwold (excellent lunch at the Sole Bay Fish Co by the river; interesting selection of independent shops including The Black Olive Delicatessen for excellent pies); Woodbridge (walking along the river pathway and the Tide Mill); Thorpeness (with the 'house in the clouds' and the 'post mill'); Aldeburgh (was a little disappointing); Snape Maltings (for wildlife and reed beds). Plus a short walk following the river Gipping from Bramford to Sproughton and back (villages a short distance from the farmhouse).

Ipswich is a lovely place.
Ipswich is a lovely place. We visited friends for a couple of days.
We went Inflata nation jump park in cardinal park. This was really good fun but expensive. The Cardinal park has many eating places and a huge cinema.

I was shocked how run down the town centre has become since my last visit quite some time ago. Internet shopping and large shopping malls on the outskirts probably contribute to the decline of town centers.

We were in Ipswich to watch the last championship match of the season at Portman Road.
We arrived on the Friday night and shared an amazing tomahawk steak at "The Grill At Twenty5" which had a lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff.
We watched the match on Saturday and spent the rest of the day soaking up the atmosphere with the wonderful Ipswich fans.
After sobering up and taking a break from the wonderful sun shine, we had our evening meal at Mariners in the marina which hosts a French restaurant on a restored 19th century boat with heaps of history and character.
We had to leave early on Sunday but would have loved to explorer further afield.
Will be back next season to see a premiership game (ticket permitting).

i liked Ipswich ,the town is small but with very nice old architecture from Tudor era, mix with Victorian style of course the moderns one are present there too. The coffee shop are the best you will remember Ipswich for this for a very long time. There is a park to visit which is very close to the centre. Suggestion: walk in the park visit the Christchurch Mansion Museum for free go to the top but when you come back take the streets along the park you will meet with beautiful, beautiful houses. In Ipswich you don't get lonely the people are very nice there , they are quick to know you and have a chat. Then there is Marina....a good place for a restaurant where you find different dishes from different countries. Then there is a football stadium too. There is lots to see around Ipswich. There are two important markets with bus station so from Cat Market I travel by bus to WoodBridge, Kersey and Felixstowe with best fish and chips etc the villages are one more appealing then other that I recommend you to visit.
We used the Carlton for a one night stop on our recent cycle tour. Fantastic value at £56 including continental breakfast. We had a good sized, airy en suite twin room on the second floor. The staff were very helpful with our bicycles and the hotel is generous with complimentary tea, coffee and milk etc. It is well placed for Ipswich town centre and we were all together very satisfied with our stay.
Second time at Penta Hotel and we always enjoy our stay.
Room is cosy and clean with comfortable bed, nice decor, desk if required to work, tea and coffee making facilities.
Fabulous shower.
Great lobby with pool table and cosy seating area.
Very practical when arriving by train as only few minutes walk from train station.
Friendly staff.
Our room was really comfortable and the breakfast also had a good enough spread. The fact that the hotel had a big parking area was an added advantage. The members of staff were also very polite. We enjoyed our stay there and we will definitely go back there when we are in Ipswich.
nice area with cafes and restaurants nearby. nice views. there’s also a bar and restaurant at the hotel which closes at 11pm but you can order bar drinks in the lounge all night.
