The location was great for us, close to London City Airport, bus, and the DLR trains. The apartment was updated and had a good kitchen, a bath(!) and living room with a pullout sofa. Neighborhood was safe, corner store met our breakfast needs. The price was right considering how central it was.

Good Hotel London is a profit for non-profit floating hotel with a waterfront location and rooftop terrace offering panoramic views. I love the story behind it. The staff is very welcoming. The view is amazing.
I'd advise if not used to the area, to plan ahead the journey as travelling from Victoria station to Abbey wood is not very straight forward, therefore require to check the best (shortest) option.
Stay here on a business trip for 2 weeks and it was perfect for my needs. Liv, who is the owner was very quick to respond to all messages and very helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here and look forward to hopefully returning back here on business in the future.
I had the most horrible experience in this hotel, bed bugs everywhere, couldn't sleep, had reddish spot all over my skin,I won't recommend this place for anyone out there for a long or short stay
The apartment is spacious for 2 people, the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was not very clean, there was no toilet paper, and it was a strong smell of mold. One of the sliding doors of the cupboard is broken, so one can not benefit from the full space inside it, but it was not a problem for us, for such a short stay. The bathroom was very cold, the heating system is not very efficient in the bathroom and kitchen, but very good for the rest. The kitchen and bathroom would benefit from refurbishing and some updating. The cooker is old and quite dirty and there is no microwave. Also, there were no towels, so if you plan to rent this kind of accommodation consider bringing your own. There was no lining for the couch in the living room, so if you bring extra people, consider bringing that too.
The most amazing thing for me was the setting - especially as seen from the upstairs window. Getting around inner city London by car is not so easy, but there is good public transport. The Arsenal is nearby in Woolwich - it is now a museum (i.e. the original military arsenal from which the football club took its name!). Greenwich's historical sites are also very close (Plumstead is part of the borough). Lesness Abbey and woods are not far away. There's plenty of good places to visit!
We did not see much of Barking, as it was used as a base for visiting London. There is a bus stop catering for services to Barking town centre and the railway station in one direction. Services to Stratford were in the other direction. Intervals were every 10 minutes or less during the day; we did not use the night bus. The shops in Barking Town Centre catered for most of our needs, when something was requird urgently. The rail services were frequent at every few minutes. Rarely more than a 5 minute wait for a train to central London. We both bought an Oyster Card on a previous visit, and both have a local version of a Freedom Card, and both have Senior Rail Cards. With both of these loaded onto the Oyster Card, the one-way rail fare to zone 1 was less than £2. A bus ride in York for a similiar distance is well over £2. We visited the new shopping centre at Stratford. Including waiting for a rail connection the journey times between Barking and Stratford were very similar regardless of the from of transport. We went by bus, the bus stop being on the main road near the hotel with a 10 minute frequency. The shopping was mainly young female fashions. The orbit slide is close by, I have a head for heights, - previously working on street lighting installations, - but we both declined the opportunity to ride the slide. Best advice for visitors: plan your visit and allow time for distractions. We had a full day in South Kensington at the V&A, Natural History and Science Musea, previously obtaining free timed tickets. Eating in these musea is expensive, but there are several places to eat at more reasonable prices nearby.
