Nestled in the heart of the Coly Valley, the circular streets of the village of Colyton lead a winding route through historical buildings. Once called ‘the most rebellious town in Devon’ for its participation in the Monmouth Rebellion, this market town overflows with nods to its rich history and established families, and every year between June and September the heraldic banners of Colyton are hoisted in the marketplace to represent the families and guilds of historic importance.
