CASA CONTI 1840 Introduction In a village dating back at least to 1474, Casa Conti was built in 1840 as the home of a Corfiot aristocratic family, very close to the famous Achillion palace which was built 50 years later. Fully renovated in 2021, retaining its original character and grandeur but incorporating the comforts and amenities of modern day living, Casa Conti draws inspiration from its past, when it was used as a hotel to accommodate merchants, statesmen and Franz Matsch, the sculptor who painted the Triumph of Achilleas inside the Achillion Palace and created a painting of Casa Conti veranda. The villa is the first dwelling at the start of the cobblestone street entering the historical village of Gastouri, with an unobstructed view of mount Ay. Deka and beyond. With its three en-suite bedrooms it can accommodate 6 guests with comfort and class with its tasteful interiors, premium furnishings and attention to detail. With its own pool, BBQ and outdoor dinning table Casa Conti is a unique blend of location, history and nature which can neither be copied nor recreated.

The Village of Gastouri Is one of the most significant villages on the island of Corfu dating back to 1474 which, despite the touristic nature of the island, has somehow managed to retain its traditional character and authenticity. But Gastouri is best known for The Achillion palace. The village is built on gentle hills with an average elevation of 100 metres, dissected by a small stream, which makes Gastouri significantly cooler and greener than its surroundings. These surrounding forested hills also provide some of the best hiking routes the island has to offer, peaks with stunning views, water fountains and the timeless charm of a village where time seems to have taken a very long break. Conveniently located close to town, some of the best beaches of the island, the new marina of Benitses and surrounded by all the essential amenities, Gastouri makes for a great base to discover the island. For many the Achillion palace may be a good reason to visit Gastouri, but for some, the village itself may be all the reason they need to stay.
