Each bedroom has independent entrance, private terrace and bathroom (+1 WC). There is also a spacious fully equipped kitchen (including an espresso machine), a kitchen net and a big living room where you can find a fine selection of vinyl & CDs of ethnic & jazz music as well as a library with art books. Each room has it's own personal decoration with traditional aesthetic that includes rare pieces of furniture, antique fabrics & other objects of primitive art from African/Asian countries. The outdoor dining area, a patio and the many terraces of La maison Fabre will provide you infinite views of the landscape and the exotic plants garden, having as background the imposing White Mountains and the Cretan sea connecting you with Mediterranean and Cretan spirit from the first day. The host I'm French and I have been living on Crete for 30 years. My profession (and my hobby) is dealer of primitive art from all around the world. My wife Mania is Greek from Crete and interior architect. La maison Fabre was made for me with the purpose of materializing my ideal for a home that reflects internality close to nature, piece of mind and rest against the pressure and stress of daily life in urban cityscape. That’s why I hired the famous architect Armand Bendavid from Marrakesh to design this home. La maison Fabre is me. It is my affection for art and detailed aesthetics, it is my love for the soothing and refreshing Cretan landscape, the cosmopolitanism and the humanitarianism that I always wanted to have where I live with my family. I had and still have wonderful experiences in there. That's where I grew my children, and now I want to share that with other people who are able to appreciate my vision. With world travelers that are sensitive to beauty and fineness, with people that expect their vacation to be full of quality, pleasure, and warm human relations. The place La maison Fabre is located in a peaceful site of Crete close to Gerani, a village situated in the municipality of Platanias. The village has 2 settlements, the coastal Kato Gerani with a beach (2,5 Km length) awarded with the blue flag and Palaio Gerani where the unspoiled Cretan nature creates an amazing landscape with scattered olive groves, orange groves, tall cypresses, plane trees, and eucalyptus having as background the imposing white mountains and views of the Cretan sea. Gerani is believed to have been the site of Ancient Kydonia. Moreover, it is believed that there was a temple dedicated to Goddess Vritomartis, which many recognize as Artemis. The distance from La maison Fabre to Palaio Gerani is 1km,. La maison Fabre lies 2km from the closest beach, 17km (20’ by car) from Chania international airport, 13km from Chania city. It is highly recommended to have a car, as the closest public bus stop is 2km away. The house has a big parking area. We should note that the last leg of the route to the house (500m) is a remote village dirt road, not paved. We stand beside you for any need and we provide info for remote beaches or traditional Cretan diet choices.
