This place is a hidden gem! If you want a true escape from reality and technology. Then I 100% recommend it here. A true Flores experience, the staff are amazing, helpful and very attentive.

The owner Lars, and all the staff were extremely welcoming, friendly and hospitable. We had nice conversations and we felt like we were at home there, which is why we ended up booking an additional stay on the way back from Ruteng. The bathrooms were insanely clean - even cleaner than some luxurious hotels. Highly recommend staying here and also ordering the traditonal dinner.

we where dropped off by the bus driver at the main road and walked 300 meters to a small paradise: very basic huts in a beautiful garden with flowers, pineapple, herbs for cooking. the staff prepared ( on request vegetarian) a good traditional meal. In the evening and night the sound of birds and gekko’s.

Very clean and comfortable houses (w/o fan or aircon) equipped with mosquito nets in the jungle. An excellent choice to completely switch off your brain and to relax. The breakfast was by far the most traditional (and nicest) that I got so far in Indonesia. To conclude: This place is a gem under development. Worth to stay 2 days to mentally (and digitally) detox.

Beautiful location with lovely garden. The huts were cute. Staff were very friendly. We also followed the cooking course which was not difficult and a lot of fun. Bathroom was clean and large. Night sky full of stars was beautiful! They provided a solar lamp and torch.

Breakfast was traditional food every day, very yummy but you have to like bananas as that is what it was. Lars, Rolan and all the staff were super helpful. My boyfriend sprained his ankle and Lars gave him an Ayurvedic remedy (and ibuprofen haha). The place is great to disconnect, read your book and enjoy nature.

Right into the jungle, we came here for this experience at first. Our hut was clean and the staff was very helpful with everything we needed. About the food, please try their dinner, it was one of the best meals I had in my life. They grow all the ingredients and everything is so pure and tasty.

  • hi, we are onn the ferry feom Sumbawa now. arrive about 6pm. Is your wifi operational? .Need twin room, two people. thanks

Sten Lodge eco Homestay is a natural homestay in Manggarai, 30 min from Labuan Bajo Komodo airport, on the beautiful island of Flores, Indonesia. A place for meditation, traditional Indonesian dancing and cooking - things to bring you back in touch with your true state of peace and joy.
Liz, native from Flores, Indonesia, has a bachelor degree in International Tourism/Hospitality Management and has studied midwifery at University in Indonesia. She is an experienced school teacher and teaches traditional Indonesian dancing. Her passion is to combine what she learnt in school and University with what mother nature offers. Lars, born in Sweden, has for 30 years been practising yoga asana, pranayama, yoga nidra and meditation and is a registered Ayurvedic Life Style Consultant. He aim to give people tools to manage their busy lives.
Close to Sten Lodge eco Homestay you can visit -Several beautiful waterfalls: Cunca Wae Satar, Cunca Wae Lakang, Cunca Wae Rewus, Cunca Wae Mowol, Cunca Merung, Cunca Wulang -Spectacular caves: Liang Kantor, Liang Niki (Bat cave) Some of these places are difficult to visit without a guide so we are happy to assist you in finding the right guide for you. During season you can also experience Palm sugar and local alcohol production.
