Your Raven Nest in the Westfjords Your Raven Nest in the Westfjords Welcome to our 100-year-old renovated house — your cozy “raven nest” in Bolungarvík. Like the raven, we’ve carefully gathered reused and repurposed materials to create a one-of-a-kind, sustainable stay. The furnishings blend vintage charm with recycled details, while essentials like linens and kitchenware are brand new for your comfort. Nestled on a quiet hillside overlooking the village, the house feels more like a home than a rental — peaceful, quirky, and full of soul. You’re within walking distance of a supermarket, swimming pool, and other local comforts, yet surrounded by some of Iceland’s most untouched nature. Please note that the local swimming pool has extansive opning hours and has all the comfort you need with a pool. 3 hot tubs, 2 cold plunges, with opportunities to book massages and the sauna is one of the best ones in Iceland. We consider Bolungarvík one of the hidden gems of the Westfjords — a quiet fishing village with sandy beaches, dramatic mountains, and a historic church. Bolungarvík is just 12 km from Ísafjörður, the largest town in the region, with restaurants, museums, and more.
Jon, the owner of Raven nest is a fisherman and lives all his life in Wesfjords, his motherland. He knows everything about the area and has a great interest in folklore, legends and developing the local culture.
The Raven Nest is located on a hill with breathtaking views of the fjord, offering a peaceful escape where you can relax, connect with local culture, and experience the charm of Icelandic folklore. Bolungarvík is a picturesque fishing village nestled in the remote Westfjords, with stunning views of Hornstrandir Nature Reserve and Bolafjall Mountain (4 km away). The swimming pool is just 300 meters from the guesthouse, and the sea, along with local restaurants, is nearby. Bolungarvík is located about 12 km from Ísafjörður, the main town in the region, which also has an airport. Explore Skálavík, a black sand beach and former fishing cove that comes alive in the summer. It’s a favorite spot for families, and on warm days, locals swim in the Hylurinn pool in Langá River. Attractions vary by season: Winter offers snow-covered landscapes, cozy nights, and the northern lights. Summer brings waterfalls, wildflowers, and long days perfect for outdoor activities. We welcome guests year-round and are happy to help you make the most of your stay, whether you’re chasing auroras or enjoying the midnight sun.
