Molino Maufet is located in Villatico along the ancient Roggia Molinaria in the historic village of Fontanedo, the first settlement in the town. Fifth survivor of a complex of 11 mills. The original nucleus probably dates back to 1100 and, as today, was made up of two millstones set in motion by as many vertical wheels (weighers) fed with water from the facing canal. In the 60s of the last century, the water supply system failed in the same way as work at the source and the disposal of the last (oldest) working mill in the hamlet. The mill was active until the 1960s and unfortunately gradually abandoned. With all the possible passion about 4 years ago we started to restore it in order to bring it back to its former glory and make it usable for visits. In addition to the desire not to lose an important historical memory, there is a strong desire to be able to make visitors relive the warm and floury atmosphere, an important reference for social aggregation for the local community, of the two little "muliné" brothers who with such simple dedication and care managed it.

Leaving Colico Piano, the road that in a moment rises towards Villatico immediately gives the pleasant sensation of a journey far in time. The noises, the cars and the bustle of the center no longer seem to belong to that instant and almost suddenly the intense blue of the sky and the lake, the ancient majestic Church of San Bernardino, the old wash house and the narrow Vicolo Mulini bring to our mill. It is said that this interweaving of alleys jealously guarded by the imposing, but reassuring white bell tower surrounded by the mountains, has in itself the hidden seed of the first village of the Commune. Continuous glimpses of houses leaned on old cellars of times blackened with the suggestion of lives and sorts spent on floors of wet earth, smelling of flour and heated only by the family fireplace. ...
