The Pischina Salida village, consisting of more than 200 accommodation units, equipped with sports facilities (swimming pools, tennis courts, five-a-side football pitches, beach volleyball and basketball courts) and services (club house, restaurants, bar, market), is located in the north-western extremity of Sardinia, near Capo Caccia, the imposing limestone promontory that overlooks the Alghero harbour and, together with the other promontory of Punta Giglio, encloses the large Bay of Porto Conte.
Capo Caccia owes its name to the pigeon hunts that the notables of the 19th century used to carry out from their boats during the becalmed periods around the promontory.
From the top of the Capo Caccia promontory, one can see the wide gulf of Alghero and the nearby island of Foradada, which constitute one of the most beautiful and evocative views of the island. Capo Caccia has a lighthouse that, thanks to its height, 168 metres above sea level, is the highest and one of the most visible in the Mediterranean.
Currently, the entire area is covered by both the Protected Marine Area of Capo Caccia-Isola Piana, a marine reserve, and the Regional Natural Park of Porto Conte, established in 1999, whose territory is characterised by a great variety of environments of high naturalistic interest, due to the presence of animal species of Community importance, and numerous endemic plant species.
From the calcareous nature of the rocks, originate the Grotte di Nettuno (Neptune's Caves), karstic formations located on the north-western slope of the Capo Caccia promontory, which can be accessed either by sea, or via the Escala del Cabirol (Roe deer's Staircase), a flight of 656 steps that winds along the wall of the Capo Caccia massif.
