Podere San Martino dates back to the 1700’s and is located on the edge of the Montalbano wine growing area. It is situated above the medieval village of Montevettolini, at roughly 225m above sea level and looks out over the valley below, indeed, when it is misty there is an incredible view across the valley, as if the towns below didn’t exist. Being near Vinci, Lucca and Pistoia and not far from Florence, Chianti, Siena, San Gimignano, the beach and the mountains above Pistoia too, means there is plenty on offer. In 2005 the main house and Il Fienile were renovated and L'Uliveto and the swimming pool were built too. There are only two houses on the property and each house has it's own private garden and barbecue facilities. The swimming pool is ONLY open to the guests staying in Il Fienile and l'Uliveto ensuring a relaxing holiday with plenty of space to unwind. Jane, the owner, lives in the main house all year round with her family and their dog and cats and is always on offer to help or give suggestions of what to see and do or to recommend a local restaurant.

Jane is Scottish and moved to Tuscany in 1994 and worked for several years in the tourist industry. In 2001 she found this olive farm, which was in need of some love and attention, but with the most incredible view. Having personally been involved in the renovation of the buildings, their interior design and the landscaping of the gardens, not to mention running the olive farm herself she loves to welcome guests from all parts of the world to this piece of paradise that she has created and most of all to share the incredible sunsets with guests, who never tire of enjoying them. She will welcome you when you arrive(so please let her know when to expect you!) and speaks English, Italian and French. Living on site she is almost always on hand should guests need any help, she's normally to be found gardening, looking after the pool, cleaning one of the houses, cutting the grass or on her tractor!

Podere San Martino is closest to Monsummano Terme, a quiet spa town with a great spa resort. Montecatini Terme is another spa town only 15 minutes away with some beautiful spas, gardens and chic shops. A cable car takes you up to Montecatini Alto which is a lovely place to spend the evening and go to for dinner. Pistoia is only 20 minutes away and was voted Italian Cultural Capital of Italy in 2017and a great place to go out to dinner in too. Vinci is not far either, famous thanks to Leonardo Da Vinci, who in fact drew a picture just below the farm! Lucca is a stunning city and offers many top quality pop concerts too, or perhaps is nice to visit on your way to visit Pisa, famous for the leaning tower. Florence offers days of sightseeing with all the museums offering masterpieces to be admired. Siena, San Gimignano and Chianti offer a change of scenery and more beautiful cities to admire. If you're tired of art cities then why not head to the beach at Viareggio or the mountains above Pistoia and do some walking? For wine lovers then Chianti or Bolgheri, home to the Supertuscan wines mustn't be missed! There are many excellent restaurants both locally and further afield.
